Not quite GP500 or SBK 2001 but better than 07, 13, and on

Milestone took a little break in publishing games but returned full steal ahead with SBK 07, then MotoGP 07, SBK 08, and MotoGP 08 (on the PC, another developer made the console ports) before splitting off to only doing SBK games.

MotoGP 08 laid the foundation to the SBK X and 11 games' gameplay. In simulation mode it requires attention and patience otherwise you'll lean too much and fall, or understeer off the track, or high side on a corner exit. This game brought a markedly stiffer riding model which would be in place through SBK 2011 which meant you had to anticipate your movement instead of react to the bike.

Some may find it too difficult or unrealistic but it was a better entry than we received from the ensuing Capcom games and the ever-worsening MotoGP 20xx editions from Milestone. Running it on modern hardware may require some finesse but there are online guides.
