Recording sounds dreadful yet having no adverts, is superb viewing!

Episodes sound as if recorded in the bottom of a deep lonely tin dustbin. Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching the first series without the SKY adverts! I bought this product after watching the first episode on terrestial TV, enraged and bored by the incessant interruptions by the addies. I particularly liked the extras in the boxed set, notably the map and family trees that helps explain the plot of the story. Unfortunatlely the sound quality is desperately poor. Nevertheless, after an hour or so one can get used to it, and of course subtitles are available.

Stunning, Earthy, Absorbing & Clever

Bought this on the recommendation of my daughter who's been addicted to this for years. Only watched 2 episodes so far, but already very impressed with the writing, acting, storyline, production and characterisations. Lots of violence and debauchery in the first episode, but I think it was essential to develop the storyline and characters rather than for the sake of it. You can perhaps detect characters that may not be as durable as others, but their demise is well constructed and makes sense as aprt of the bigger story.
