Great product

Easy first fitment, and importantly for me, easy to install and remove at will. Mounting brackets are easy to fit and offer adjustment to suit different clearances. Once in place, mudguards just slide onto them. You can ride with or without the mudguards, just leaving the brackets in place. The plastic in of the nice bendy type so don't look like they'll crack or snap etc., and I'm happy they slide on and off plenty of times. The rear guard also has a clip support for rear down tube to keep it stable. No noise or vibration from them, even on rough terrain. Really good for the price - I'm using with a v brake setup on a half suspension hybrid. Can't fault them.Read full review...

Good if it fits

Good budget mudguards, provided you have the relevant holes drilled into your frame to accept the brackets. It would be easy for Zefal to mod this very slightly to make it truly universal; its shame they haven't. The clip for the rear guard also struggles with wider downtubes of modern hybrid bikes such as Merida crossway etc. Also, the screws supplied for fitting to front suspension forks don't fit my sun-tour; given that this is a pretty standard size for modern bikes, they should include the correctly sired screw.

In summary, excellent for a more old fashioned frame with drilled holes and narrower tubes, but it is not truly a universal fit so loses a star as a result, requiring some creative modding, so they loose a star as a result.

Budget Zefal mudguards

I have fitted several sets in the past few months, with generally good results.
They do fit the wheel curvature quite well, which is unusual in budget guards, providing reasonable protection.
I have retro-fitted stays to the front and rear as the single point fitting allows the guards to flap around in windy weather. This makes a huge difference.
Generally a good buy at the price, easy to fit and pretty tough. No failure as yet.

Mudguards

This mudguard set is great... With one exception. My wife and I both have Giant branded hybrid bikes.
These do not fit to the ladies bike.! Kind of my fault, as I should of checked first but didn't because they are described as fits all 700cc sized bikes.Read full review...

Fitting advice

Bear in mind how much visible seat post you have to fit it on as if your saddle is too low it won't fit well. On mine ok,but my wife's no, so used different type.

Zefal Trial City Mudguards

Reasonable for the price.
Lacks the support of other guards with stay rods, so the rear ends can move side to side, but only a little. The single fixing on the front is fairly stable.
The rear guard comes up short, so you can be sprayed up your back if moving fast. The front end of the rear guard stops short of where the chain stays meet at the bottom of the seat tube, so your front derailleur may get mucky.
But this is being picky. For the price they do a pretty good job, keeping away most muck your wheels would otherwise throw at you.
Lightweight too.

Not bad.

They were easy to fit, although the flexible part which attaches the rear guard to the upright below the seat is rather easy to break and I suspect it won't last a long time. The rear guard also is so short that mud can fly up on to the rider.Read full review...

Zefal mudguard set

Easy to fit...good value for money. In heavy rain back mudguard not long enough...lower back back got a bit wet. May not be the case in lighter rain. I have a cycling jacket so not a real issue.

Good but with a few treaks could be much much better

The plastic mudguards seem strong and flexible. But the back guard is too short so the pedal crank and chain etc gets covered in mud if you ride on muddy tracks. If only they made an extension section that could be clipped/screwed on. The fitting screws also leave something to be desired. They really should have bigger washers to spread the load on the plastic and nyloc (or similar) nuts to avoid the risk of the guards working loose/ falling off.Read full review...

Great, for the price.

These look good and do the job although the rear one is a wee bit short so allows a little spray back onto the rider. The rear was a bit wobbly but a cable tie to the rear pannier rack firmed it up.r>Very light in weight and easy to fit.Read full review...
