Nifty little repair bracket.
My wife was reporting a knocking noise from the rear of her old Volvo S80. Upon examination, I noticed that the 10mm round bar that supports the rear exhaust box was detached from the exhaust pipe. Garages nowadays are not interested in welding brackets back onto old exhausts but would rather sell you a new rear exhaust box. After temporarily putting on a jubilee clip repair I found this little bracket for sale. Obviously Volvo exhaust clamps fail with monotonous regularity and someone/somewhere has invented the solution.
The bracket just clamps onto the exhaust pipe aft of the rear silencer and inserts into the rubber hanger. Only problem I had was removing the old broken stub from the rubber support as it had rusted in. I had to resort to a hefty set of bolt cutters to cut the 10mm round bar and push it through the rubber the 'wrong' way.
Only problem I envisage is that there is no locking washer on the bolts and they may loosen but that was easily fixed by using two nylock nuts. Good / fast service from Parts-Monster.

A great value permanent repair for a V70 Volvo exhaust.
Probably one of the best value repair kits around - this bracket provides a permanent repair for the Volvo original exhaust system weak point - the rear exhaust hanger point. The bracket clamps around the exhaust pipe just after the rear box and replaces the rear exhaust mounted suspension spigot which rusts through way before the rest of the system, primarily because it is mounted at right angles to the point providing the ideal point for salt to collect and rust through the spigot at a rate faster than the rest of the system.
Easily installed, you don't even need to remove the remains of the old spigot from the exhaust.Read full review...

Perfect Repair Part
2006 Volvo S60 AWD 2.5T, Original post rusted off the rear muffler. This bracket goes on easy and aligns perfectly to orginal position. Took all of 15 minutes to install, including new hanger. The bracket will likely outlive the muffler and saved me having to replace the rear muffler. the only downside is that it is not available for sale in the US but Parts Monster had reasonable shipping to the US.Read full review...
