Having payed guitar for 60 years and gigged for 50, sore fingertips aren't a problem - anyway, no gain without pain. I actually bought these for another problem I've been having since switching to PRS guitars: wearing down the fingernails on index and middle on the right hand through damping. So I thought I'd try these to wear on the plectrum hand opposite way round to cover the nail. In rehearsal it felt strange but worked; on a gig last night it did inhibit playing a bit, but did protect the nails. I could liken it to wearing a condom for another favourite activity: it works but it's slightly desensitising. Unlike a condom, the knobbly bits get in the way when holding a plectrum, so I'm going to try to some smooth ones. For the actual purpose these are intended (fretboard hand) I guess they would work - but if you use them forever you will never harden those finger tips and that's what you really want isn't it?Read full review...

Works for me, does a great job.
I didn't buy this product to use on my fretting hand but on my right little finger to stop my nail from scratching the pick guard. Someone might say well why don't I cut the nail, the reason is that I had an accident years ago and I cannot cut that nail short enough due to a slight deformity so the finger does the job.
