Octavia 1U2 stop light replacement

I had to shim mine with a 1p coin on the pedal as the reach seemed to be slightly different from the OEM part and the brake lights stayed on all the time when I first put it on. With the shim, it worked fine, passed MOT.
Youtube channel for Fixerette shows how easy it is to replace - a 5 minute job. "Brake light switch replacement by a French lady on VW Jetta" (The Octa panel is much easier to remove than her Jetta was - you need a long blade flat screwdriver to spring back the 2 retaining clips but there is no awkward 3rd pin like she had to muscle out)
I didn't have time (I hadn't found the video above) so I ordered up both 4-pin and 2-pin switches beforehand- but it is so easy to do, I would recommend that you take out the original part before ordering, get the part code off it & you can then get just the exact part you need.Read full review...
