Sealy Electrostart Review

This works brilliantly....I purposefully ran the battery down on my camper van overnight and the following day was just the 'clicking solenoid/relay noise' when trying to start as not enough battery to turn the starter motor.

I connected the Electrostart and it showed just 7v.

Sure enough the lights progresively moved up and I would say about 90secs later were at the full 14v

Van started no problem at all ...it's a 2.7 litre petrol btw.

It's small enough to keep in a small 'carpet' style bag in the boot of my new hatchback (sold the campervan) along with a tyre compressor/first aid bag/box of fuses etc...a traditional jump start pack would take up far too much room and be more awkward to secure.

It's nice to know it's there and can be forgotten about as no regular charging is needed. Also no chance of it bursting into flames as there is the possibility of with a LiPo pack ( a remote possibilty I know but I have seen a LiPo burst into flames and would hate it to happen to an unattended car)

Definitely recommended :)

Flat Battery

My car is a classic and is garaged most of the year. Quite often the battery is flat thru lack of use. I saw the Electro start advertised and thought it would be a great thing to have ....save lugging a heavy battery pack around,so I bought one ...ABSOLUTELY HOPELESS...followed the
instructions to the letter ....NOTHING ..NOT A CHEEP it did nothing!
Very disappointing... ended up buying a new battery pack ......What a
waste of money. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Capacitor Jump Starter

Have had many Snap-On booster packs with the heavy lead acid battery. These have good amps but die out of warranty. Tried the Lithium packs but tend to be very expensive for a professional quality unit.
Have seen capacitor packs on YouTube and when Sealey introduced their line up I was interested. Getting this 800 amp unit with a discount code was under £75 delivered and used it the week it arrived.
It charges in around 3-4 minutes and ready to go. Cranked engine over well but only for a few turns. Then you have to wait for it to re-energise the pack.
Started the completely flat 2.7 diesel truck on the second go.
I like the fact that theses capacitors are rated at over a million cycles and unlike the lithium packs should last many years.
Downside I could probably of done with the 1600 amp version but that’s over £200 so happy spending under haft.

Light and compact and easy to use

I first became aware of this tool on the Scotty Kilmer Youtube channel. His apprsisal nails it in my opinion although the one he uses is a different brand. You must follow the instructions to the letter or it won't do anything. It holds enough charge for one bite of the cherry but chances are in most situations that will be enough - and you can still recharge it and have another go even the n. I tried it on my 2.0 hdi and it just packs enough punch to heat the glow plugs, crank and fire. Bigger diesels maybe not an optjon as the pre heat current draw takes a fair slice of the stored charge. Very pleased with this jump starter. It will be permanently available in the boot of my car.Read full review...

Simple, useful and effective jump starter

Battery was showing about 11 volts but was too weak to even turn over the engine which hadn't been started for over two weeks. Even the car's clock had reset itself. I connected the leads too the battery. When switched off the starter's LEDs show the battery voltage. I turned it on and it immediately started to charge the capacitors. It actually took about 5 mins to charge up fully from fresh out of the box. Once full charge is reched a green bypass LED lights up. I reached throught the window, turned the ignition key, the engine always cranks for a good few seconds before starting. The starter turned it like a champ and had it started first go!
What really impresses me is unlike most jump starters you don't have to remember to keep it charged. The instructions say you need at least 5 volts in the car's battery or you can charge from another car's accessory socket or from a 2amp USB source. So as long as you have it with you, you should rarely if ever be stuck.
