A good quality replacement base for the mk4 golf aerial, as other purchasers have said don't be tempted by the cheaper ones available, this is not very expensive itself, fits well, no problem even though the lead is slightly shorter than the original VW one, and it provides excellent reception.Read full review...

Good quality but check the socket compatibility.

I had to replace the antenna on my Golf V because the built-in amplifier stopped working. This was advertised as a Genuine replacement. However, it is not genuine as in genuine VW, but just genuine as in genuine replacement. Semantics? No.

The plug that connected the antenna to the wire going tot he radio, wasn't compatible and I had to solder the old one back on. If you are not happy with soldering, dont' buy before you've made sure what socket/plug you need.

Perfect fit for mk4 golf

Tried a cheap (6.50) version but the square spigot wasn't long enough, so couldn't tighten the base up. Had to bin that one.

Ok so this is more than twice the price but is a perfect fit, and fitted in minutes! So can't recommend higher.

The only difference from the original is the cable is fed through the centre of the tightening nut. So you need to together with a spanner not a socket.Read full review...

You get what you pay for

Because I had to change the connection I discovered that the plastic cover was not properly screwed to the base ,the screws used were too short and had split the plastic posts they were screwed into and there was no seal to weatherproof the amplifier board ..

Okay as a cosmetic repair does not function

The Arial looks okay, only as a cosmetic item though as the electrical connection will not fit that of a mk5 golf. Not practical at all.
