OK for novice or hobby tier

This vice would be OK for a novice or hobby tier. But if you tie a lot of flies & like your vice to rotate smoothly grip hooks well & the tighteners on the hook vice to work well without hurting your thumb & for fingers or using some sort grip tool I would advise you to buy a different vice. They say you get what you pay for, which I think is very true in this instance. Read full review...

Not great

I bought one of these about two years ago. The jaws are very soft, and within a year they would not hold smaller hooks as the metal had twisted out of shape. The nut tightening mechanism wears out very quickly making it hard to get enough tension to hold your hook. Pretty soon it wears to the point that you will need to start going to the gym to build up upper body strength to tighten a hook in its jaws. The vise is technically rotatable but is very loose when you rotate it, and the nut has to be tightened a lot before it will hold its position again.

You get what you pay for, and I wouldn't recommend getting this vise unless you are on an extremely tight budget, and you tie very few flies

Good as starter vice

Yes it's an ok vice and will rotate BUT the jaws are not inline with the main body so will not turn fly on its own axis. The jaws are slightly higher than the body of the vice.

For £20 it's the deal of the century other brands charge you £20 just for a bobbin cradle with this one you get the vice plus the bobbin cradle and it does the same things as any of the ones you poy £150 + for what a bargain Read full review...

Value for money

Couple of minor defects but easily corrected have mounted mine on a plinth which is heavy and more convenient if your an armchair tyer wasn’t really bothered about bobbin cradle other than that more than adequate and suits most gauges of hooks 👍🏻Read full review...

get what you pay for

could have had more thought put into the design as i find there is to much distance between the centre line of the vice and the hook . on the plus side it rotates well and grips the hook tightly . Be ok for a novice tyers first viceRead full review...

could be better

although it is reasonably practical, the brass knobs are very sharp and dig into the fingers. This i was able to cure myself by moulding washers around the knurled knobs. Also the arm dose not lock up too well, but for the price i don't suppose i should complain too much.Read full review...

Rotary fly tying vice

It is fantastic, easy to use very sturdy, the vice holds size 18s no problem with a firm grip.

Sad, but

I found this vice very frustrating and disappointing but as I’ve said. You get what you pay for. The materials used are good the design not so good. Trying to fasten a hook in the jaws is a pain. Another but! I have Arthritis-in my thumbs. I couldn’t fasten the screwdRead full review...
