As tough as old boots!

The glue is very strong and flexible, and so far has held the sole on my walking boot and both soles on my leather riding boots. The walking boot I have only used 3 times since repairing it, and it's stuck together despite thick mud and a reasonable distance covered. If it lasts a long time like this, I would give the product a 5, but it's too early to judge it. The leather riding boots I use daily, but they don't get such a trial as the walking ones: however they do prove that the glue sticks to various surfaces.....so it's tempting to try it to stick myself to my horse!!! No negative comments so far, but it as I mentioned earlier, it hasn't been tested over a long time. Read full review...

Doesn't work as promised

It was promising, looked like much stronger than the classic, resin based, cheap glue on two different soles. Everything was properly cleaned with IPA and applied as instructed.
But after couple of minutes of walk, the shoe sole was separated again in both case. It fill cracks in sole but last only for hours as well. This doesn't bond the wearing layer to the base better than the cheapest one however five times more expensive.Read full review...

Works well with 9 months use now

My 11 year old Leather Scarpa boots seperated toe to instep last year. £9 v. £200 for new boots it was worth a try. It's messy stuff to use but the soles were glued back on and left clamped up for a few days. That was 9 months ago and these are still my go-to boots for wet, muddy and winter conditions. The repair is holding up well and the boots seem to be waterproof.
Only downside is you need to be carefull not to get it everywhere but in reality any overspill doesn't really show on 11 year old dark leather boots.Read full review...

Over priced but useful

Over priced for such a small portion, it's a shame it wasn't double the size. But I guess its a controlled substance.

Be really certain of what repairs you are expecting it to perform.
If you are touching up perishing parts like the Rand of a hiking boot (Like me), be sure you cut out all of the perished material before applying this. You might find that you don't have enough and a resole and re-rand would be better.

Great for applying overcoats to torn or grazed parts of Walking boots. Drys with a solid gloss effect and will make the section water proof again (We so far anyway ;) ).
But again make sure what you want to attach to is cleaned and solid.Read full review...

Freesole boot repair.

A great product. I have used this when the rand on my hike boots came away and left the front sole starting to part. The heal rand also had a gap. This will product will fill any gaps and adhere soles and rands, but you must clean both halves very well, I used alcohol and a tooth brush to get right into the gaps.
It's likely the excess glue will turn a semi opaque pasty white so care must be taken to remove any excess. Also make sure all wax waterproofing is removed to any parts you intend to repair. Use insulation tape to mask off any areas you don't want glue on around the joint between rand and boot. I used small ratchet straps to hold the boot parts together and depending on where the repair is, you may need to fill the boot with something to make it rigid use a carrier bag or old sock to line the boot and fill pack it with pea gravel or dried peas, then you can strap parts together without the worry of it flexing.
The repair If carried out correctly will be very strong. And if you happen to get glue ooze over the edge you can trim it with a scalpel blade. When set it forms a tough rubbery substance not unlike silicone sealant but of course much tougher. I have worn the boots since the repair to Norway in minus 23 with no detrimental effects. This is good stuff if you do the job properly. My first use of this product was excellent and was about 2 years ago, although they say you can keep it in the freezer which I have, I prefer to buy a new tube for this next repair. Smelly, but very effective!

I have been using Freesole to repair boots and shoes for several years. Smells awful - always work outside, but works very well. Use pieces of bike brake blocks to replicate the tread, and use Freesole as a 'glue' to hold in place. Coat with Freesole to prevent blocks being plucked, then allow to dry, and level tread with a file.Read full review...

Light and easy to use

Freesole is great for repairing soles as one might expect but it is also useful for a whole host of other things like repairing wear points on rucksacks and bags.

It works

I repaired the heel of my Clark's airsole shoes because water was getting through the air pockets.
It worked though the glue was runnier than expected and took longer to set than I had hoped. I now need to go back to it and put another layer on.
Because it was runnier, and the soles of my shoes are not flat, the method of application recommended of putting sellotape round didn't quite work as planned. It created a ridge round the edge, and was awkward to keep in place.Read full review...

Could be a money saver

Used to repair the soles of a pair of high quality leather shoes where the soles had worn thin in the centre.

It was not possible to resole this design but the thin section of the sole was built up with several layers of McNett adhesive to achieve a reasonable thickness and give additional life to the shoes.

Repairs made with this glue actually last

I run on the beach 3 times a week with my dog, and after a few months my shoes always start coming apart due to the frequent exposure to salt water. I've tried a number of repair glues, but this "Freesole" stuff is the only one I've found that holds fast.

The only slight negative is that like most really effective glues it has a habit of sealing itself up once it's been opened; the top gets stuck and in your effort to free it you tear a hole in the tube itself. So don't expect to use the whole tube up unless you've got a lot of really big repairs, but do expect those repairs to last.Read full review...
