Class Act - perfect pretentious coffee table book

Don't get me wrong - a bit of pretentiousness goes a long way, so this review is positive!
From the seventies-allusion of the title, to the thick heft of the individual pages, this weighty tome is full to the brim with slavering pictures of glamourous people, places, dioramas...
Get it to get lost for delicious moments of indulgence in the life none of us has, but may be out there somewhere...
Get it to get inspiration for creating your own slice of luxurious life - like baking a madeleine just for the moment you sit down with a coffee on a sunny Tuesday mid-afternoon: the rest of the mad world may still be out there, but for a moment, you are in your chateau, lolling in the breeze from your huge French windows before taking your afternoon nap on your day-bed. (And then you are snapped back to it by remembering that you haven't cleaned the cat litter for three days and you need to hang the washing out that you put in last night..
Ah, yes, the book - it is glossy, lavish and an enjoyable to remind you where you belong, so treat yourself - and buy that Madeleine-tin too! If it is only a small stretch, buy it New - this is your dream-world and there is not much worse than a dream-world that is dog-eared, or someone else has thumbed through. Any red-wine/champagne stains should be your own..!

(btw, I have no connection to either the publishers or vendors of the book - or to Madeleine-tin vendors, for that matter...)
