Squirrels love it !
My "hotel" is well constructed but for one thing - the perspex window where the squirrel has to get the food out was wrecked within 2 days - it really isn't squirrel proof as squirrels have very sharp teeth. Not surprising really if they can see what goodies lie behind the window so can't blame them. I was very pleased with the hotel otherwise regardless of what other reviews have said, mine is a very robust construction and well worth the money. I can't see how you could change the perspex window idea because the squirrels need to "see" the food I think but without a window if it rains the food could get wet and rot - not good. Had a problem initially with the delivery as it took ages to arrive and I had to chivvy up the firm but it arrived the day after - problems with the post office perhaps rather than the supplier. Yes - I would recommend getting an hotel so you can watch the bushy tailed little rascals enjoying their monkey nuts and it has deterred them from raiding my bird feeders so a good investment. Perspex hole too small
I hung it on a tree branch and watched as squirrels tried and failed to get many nuts due to the hole in the perspex being so small. I took it down and had quite a job removing the perspex as it was slipped into grooves at the top and sides before the bottom was attached. I then glued on a piece of wood at the bottom of the opening so as nuts would not fall out. Squirrels and birds are happily feeding now. Squirrel hotel (he stole some of it)!!!
Nice little squirrel feeder, to try to stop his acrobatics on the hanging bird feeders.
Unfortunately, the first time he found it, he must have got stuck in the hole. Perhaps he was too fat !! He managed to get out, but the Perspecs broke into several pieces, which he left as evidence. No nuts were left at all, and it was full!!!! He may have brought his mates for a party, he is more likely to have gobbled the lot himself, and is now sleeping it off. Squirrel/ bird feeder
These little boxes are excellent. I've got 2 now. I removed the plastic window and wooden perch. The blue tits, Robins and sparrows love feeding from it. It's a little shelter and the food stays inside instead of dropping on the floor like other seed feeders. I put nuts in as well and the squirrel puts his hand in for the nuts. Nutty feeder
Poor construction. My squirrels have destroyed it! The plastic feed side is supposed to slide into grooves cut in the wooden sides but the plastic is poorly cut so does not fit properly so the squirrels pulled out to get at more nuts.
I secured it more firmly so the squirrels have now onward at the hole and widened it so they can get inside. The plastic is such poor quality.
The design is poorly thought out.
If suspended the squirrels can't sit on the drop down shelf. Slightest movement and the nuts are emptied on the ground.
If rested on the ground rainwater warps and rots it.

I took the clear perspex out before use as I know it would of been a problem for squirrels 🐿 and after reading past reviews I found out that it had been gnawed away by them.

Waste of money
This is made of poor quality materials. The squirrels in my garden were able to bite through the Perspex front and eat the piece of soft wood at the bottom which is holding the Perspex in place. To be fair, I contacted the seller with a couple of photo's showing the damage and I received an immediate full refund. I have since replaced the Perspex front with a piece of 4mm Perspex and wrapped the whole thing in metal chicken wire which seems to be keeping the squirrels at bay for now.Read full review...
