I read one review on here that said this thing does not work as indicated that is untrue this item should be used to detect voltage but should not be used as your only source of information once you have detected voltage you should use a dedicated meter to determine what voltage is there is you'd be a fool if you only used one source of information and the infrared temperature is great for quick measurementsRead full review...

Misleading user’s instructions, Dangerous for novice user!
User manual’s instructions do not comply with how the instrument behaves during usage. The user’s manual says “for high voltage (120V) detection, the red light remains on and continuous beeps are generated“ and “For low voltage (12V) detection, the red light flashes slowly and beeps are generated”.
In reality the instrument does not show any of the above combination so user cannot decide if it is a Low Voltage or High Voltage, a dangerous device for non-technical user. NOT recommended.

I bought this Klein voltage tester NCTV-4IR that I thought it was because of the description and picture but when I got it in my mail I open it and guess what they took the original one and replace it with a different one (NCVT-3R.
