Easy DIY repair!

Both my Nintendo DS and my husband's desperately needed the R shoulder button replaced. I was surprised how inexpensive the replacement parts were, and decided to try the repair myself. These buttons are sold in a set for both L and R buttons, so I replaced both on each of our DS's. I found a great tutorial for the repair on a website called IFixIt (I will not post the full link due to EBay's policies, but the page is titled "Nintendo 3DS Right Shoulder Button Replacement" and the author is David Hodson). The tutorial was very easy to follow with detailed pictures and tips the whole way through. I would recommend getting a good quality Phillips #00 screwdriver--I originally began my repair with a very cheap, poor-quality screwdriver, and had a hard time with the tip of the tool "chewing away" on the tiny screws. Once I purchased a better quality screwdriver it was much easier! You may also want a simple plastic prying tool designed for delicate electronics repairs as well. The replacement buttons work great so far, and we are both very happy to have our beloved DS's back in good working order!Read full review...

Works

I had accidentally broken the right cable while replacing my joystick. I ordered this one and found it was a bit smaller than the original and actually ripped the replacement. So on attempt number 2, I made sure I was more careful and successfully installed it. It works. Just wish it was bigger so I didn't have to waste the money the first time. Or the second time, depending on how you look at it.Read full review...

Exactly what you need to make L & R buttons feel like new.

These are replacements for the electronic components underneath the L & R buttons of an original 3DS (not the actual plastic your fingers press - the circuitry that goes under them). They are somewhat easy to replace provided you follow the instructions on either a YouTube video or an ifixit page. They will make the buttons feel like new and fix the problem of them being worn out and/or hard to press. I have done several of these and they have gone beautifully. Very good price for them, as well.Read full review...

Does the job

Doesn't feel quite as good as the original piece, but works fine, you should also probably buy an extra because these things tear easily (even the oem ones). It'll save you a week of waiting.

A moderate DIY project for faulty 3DS systems

!!! WARNING !!! Disassembling the 3DS & removing the battery will tear the warranty sticker from your handheld console. I strongly suggest following along with a YouTube walk-through or an iFixIt slideshow as linked below. (delete the spaces). Watch the whole video before getting started.

If you can handle a needle and tweezers without hurting yourself you can replace these pieces pretty easily. You'll also need a spudger (or a paper-thin prying tool like a guitar pick) and a must have #00 Phillips screwdriver. A small plate or magnet is suggested for screws.

As soon as you can remove back panel, the battery then the back case you can access the old ribbons for the shoulder buttons. Careful about pulling off each piece!! these flex cables are attached to the motherboard and back case. Also when you detach the flex cables from the motherboard there are tiny springs holding down the buttons to the cables and they can be lost in a second.

Perfect

The price is the best. The shipment time off-records. And the quality is factory-made. I can now play my 3ds again. Recommended

Better than stock

You cannot hear the click of the button, but you can feel when it clicks. That's why I recommend it over the stock ones.

Good tech bits for decent price

They were easy to install. Unfortunately, one came broken. Luckily they sent a free replacement that did the trick.

Dexarity is require to install this item properly.

It's currently the 8th of Feb, and my order has arrived! In perfect condition, and more importantly, it works~!

( I mention the date because Ebay said it shouldn't be here until the 13th, hilariously amazing delivery time by comparison. )

it was a tad tricky installing it with it being so small and having large hands, but i managed it eventually (after about 40 mins of personally nerve racking effort on my part to insure it was connected correctly without breaking the ribbon wiring,) but as I said, it works perfectly!

I can't say that my 3ds is as good as new

I now have a working r button after having my 3ds slammed down onto the ground and a good amount of overly harsh smash bros. It feels satisfying to have a fully operational console again.
