Great sound and high quality

This Evans snare head is what I have needed for a sound that gives punch without a "ringing" sustain from previous heads. It is solid having two layers, easy tuning, and no need for a baffle. I play rock and this head punches through the mix with short sustain having a "studio dry sound" whether it's mic'd up or not. I will now only play with a Evans Genera HD on my snare drum (Premier Chrome) and I'm happy that I purchased it after using other heads (all single ply) that did not produce the sound I wanted. Personally I highly recommend this head and have had a lot of compliments from other musicians about the sound and quality of this product.Read full review

Answer for steel snares

I have been trying to find “the” head for my Ludwig Supralite. First head I got for it was an Aquarian Texture Coated. Crazy durable head, great tone, no issues with it. However, the Supralite being steel does deliver a ring. It can be controlled with e-rings, moon gels etc. but sometimes I thought it made the drum sound too dead. Side note, I am also not the greatest tuner but have been trying to get better and really experiment. Once the HD arrived, I felt like I got in a good place in about 15 minutes. Previously, there was some strange kind of frequency buzz from the snare wires, especially when not struck in the center from the Texture Coated. Definitely could have been my tuning skills, but did not notice this with the HD after tuning it to what I thought felt/sounded correct. Even with a really small piece of moongel for the remaining overtones, it doesn’t deaden the drum and still leaves a crack when struck! Really amazing. Not sure if my tuning skills are starting to get better or it’s strictly the head, but there’s virtually no buzz when hitting the drum, or the rack tom especially. No insane buzz when going off-center. Tone on every hit, really responsive. Couldn’t recommend this head enough! Read full review

The best EVER!

I've been using these exclusively for over 5 years. I won't even look at another snare head. They have a great snap and you don't get all the annoying overtones. They work on both metal and wood snares of any depth. Pick one up, you won't be disappointed.Read full review

Great sounding head!

A local music store got one of these heads in when they were first released and the owner gave me one and asked me to "try it out"...I haven't used any other heads on any of my snare drums since!! Fantastic tone and performance for all types of music. If you haven't tried one of these heads yet, do yourself a favor and get one!Read full review

Great deal and great snare batter head!

Best head for snare and I've tried them all! Very little ring...great all around rock and pop head. It tunes up easy and nice dry sound as advertised.

Head is very good, reduces the overtones so much I would not use dampening. But if you want that open tone ring in your face sound it gets muffled a bit.

I like high tuning for the most part. It does really well with high tuning.Read full review

An easy snare head choice

Makes any cheap Snare sound 100% better. Takes out a lot of the ring & overtones... if that's what you 're looking for.
