Great tool
I bought this tool because the two Park wrenches I've got would not hold in the slots of my Shimano chainring bolts. Not sure if their tines were not long enough or their edges not square enough but they would not hold. This TL-FC21 worked great. It held tightly while used the Allen wrench on the other side. It's also longer than the Park so you can get more leverage. It worked just as well when I reinstalled my chainrings. I guess you get what you pay for...quality; at least in this tool.Read full review

Did not work, poor quality, likely a Shimano knock off.
It did not work on my older Shimano Dura Ace crank arm dust caps. The pegs are too small and short. Tool seemed cheaply made for something supposedly from Shimano. Since I have read on respectable cycling repair sites that the TL-FC21 Peg Spanner should work with these caps, and that it did not come in Shimano packaging, I assume it is a knock off and not genuine Shimano. I ended up taking my bike and the tool to a respectable bike shop, and they confirmed my suspicion. They had the dust caps off with the real Shimano tool within a couple of minutes. $8.00 for a tool that looks like something one would get included with an IKEA, some assembly required, furniture set. Lesson learned - when buying quality brand name products, make sure it comes in the original packaging. Save your money and buy genuine Shimano from a reputable shop.Read full review
