A computer on your wrist. Apple high quality, reliable (I've had one trouble-free for over 4 years) with a price range to cover most pockets. Battery discharges only 30% per day if you change settings to display only when you tap the screen rather than on wrist raise which drains the battery much more quickly. A simple face display rather than a kaleidoscope will also conserve power.

Small but visible, with magnifying function via the Digital Crown. Tells the time (it's a watch!), alerts you to emails, appointments &c. Whatever you command it to do, or not do, via the iPhone Watch App it will comply. You can answer phone calls, reply and send Messages, control the iTunes playlist currently performing on your iPhone, set a timer, use Apple Pay (if set up on phone), check your daily mobility targets, use Apple Maps, read news headlines, use the watch to trigger your iPhone camera for a distance shot. And more than one could easily include here, including of course, SIRI who is ever ready to assist.

Fully customisable in terms of appearance (i.e. Complications, as the watch face styles are called, apps, battery saving and so on) with an impressive array of interchangeable straps from Apple or other vendors. Even though this may be the Series 1 Watch (and be careful of the difference between Series 1 and Apple Watch (1st Generation) - they are not quite the same!) it still runs the latest WatchOS and is great value now compared to buying a new Series 3.
