Can be tricky to fit but worth it.

Its well worth the money if you fit it well. The boot is strong and made of a good quality material. Its important to clean the whole area before you start.. Practice before gluing. I had to hold in position longer before the glue set and then leave it for several more minutes before putting in final position. After fitting I leave it a couple of hours before driving car. The tricky part is holding it all carefully whilst the glue is drying as you need all of you fingers and thumbs for it.Read full review...

A temp measure only if you are selling car or MOT

This is a temp measure only. This is the 5th split sticky boot Ive fitted in two years to the same vehicle. After about 6 months the glue in parts of the boot wears off and grease starts to seep out.<br>I recommend if you are doing it yourselve instead of using the CV boot clip order the CV Band. There is a knack to put them on but work perfect and hold the CV boot in place.
Also another tip is where you glue the outside of the boot try and glue inside the boot where it joins together once the outside is dry

Great product and it is fairly easy to install for someone mechanically-minded!

I bought this awesome split boot to replace a cv joint boot that was frayed in two with grease exposed to the elements, on my Japanese import vehicle which does not have a presence here in Canada nor the USA, thus parts are hard to find. Upon inspection, I found that the grease had not come out yet, so the damage to the installed boot was new and the cv joint absolutely was worth saving. If the joint has lost all its grease and has started clacking, then the joint and boot must both be replaced.

I put the car on drive-up ramps and cut out the existing boot, then followed the install instructions for the new boot, after fully cleaning the shaft with acetone, to remove dirt and also removing as much old grease from the joint as I could. The temperature during the gluing was -3C and I had to hold the first section of the new boot together for much longer than the recommended 45 secs, instead it was more like 2 mins. This was hard, and I had to do it a couple of times before the glue set. If you are installing at such low temperatures, I would suggest an assistant hold a hair dryer to warm the glue, to make it set faster. The remaining segments to glue were a cinch since there was no tension.

Once the clamps were on, I had an easy to install low-cost split boot on my car and away I went.

In North America we have a similar product made by Doorman. I chose not to buy this product because it was 2-3 times the cost of the British sticky boot, and I had to order it in anyway. The main thing that stopped me was not the cost however, it was the design of the Doorman product- it consisted of 2 sections and thus twice the work with the glue! This was not worth my time, the Stickyboot is a far better product!

Mixed Review for Bailcast CV Gaiter

The split gaiter wasn't great when trying to fit it to a Micra K11 (2000). The universal nature of the gaiter meant that cutting it to size didn't really suit the dimensions of the Micra to the extent that trying to make it secure was a problem for me. I had to get a garage to secure it properly. Also tricky when trying to carry out the instructons underneath the car. I will not use it again if I need to get another CV gaiter for the Micra. Shame because in theory it should have worked more easily and I would have liked it to have worked as I would have saved me money. Read full review...

Very good quality product , easy to fit ,saves a lot of time and hard work

The product is very good quality , comes with all the things that you need to replace the existing one. Its very easy to use , clean the existing area , measure and cut as necessary.
Next pack the bearing with grease (provided with kit) clean any excess, place the rubber boot and start gluing and holding tight , remember to do it in small sections 1" at a time , hold for about a minute and start next section. when finished and located in the right place attached the clips provided , it save a lot of time that would be wasted in dismantling the suspension.

A very good product.

would not recommended would not buy again

I got these cv boots to try and save taking the driveshaft off the car and to save money. The boots are well made. I cut down to size cleaned every think off spent about 1 hour glueing it together and then could not get the clips to hold the boot in place so in the end it works out easy to take driveshaft off the car and put proper cv boots on so to me I would not waste my money even buying these again and would not recommended them at all.Read full review...

Great product when fitted with care as per the instructions.

Easy to fit, (with care). The last one I fitted lasted longer than a conventional slip over boot. Saving on time or £80+ on labour costs.

poorly made...finish quality not good

Poor quality, the lip and groove were so small that it was impossible to join together had these been the correct size, which they weren't
The supplier was given the make and model and registration number as requested when ordering,
but they were not correct and by the time it came to do the job after stripping down the drive shaft etc, it was too late to exchange them
Not recommended for either use or using this supplier
A waste of money..and too late to return the items, as not in pristine condition now!

Awesome product not available elsewhere

Awesome product not available in US stores for some reason. Used it to replace the inside axle boots on my 2003 c240. Working great so far and sure beats $1000 at the mechanic. I recommend buying some knipex ear clamp pliers and some extra ear clamps, separately, especially if you're working in awkward conditions. I messed up one clamp and was glad to have some extras of various sizes on hand. Read full review...

Sticky Tricky Boot

Wanted a temp fix for my CV joint until I had more time to put a normal boot in place, saw this and thought this will do for now.
Rubber is good quality but could not even fit it together off the car much less on the car, need to improve the split part fitting together, agroove and raised part would make this boot an excellent product but as it is it's not really much useRead full review...
