accurate
Bought to replace a 1st generation ppg Mini which still works but cannot update security software and disk drive faulty. The new model seems to me over specified with many built in applications which cannot easily be turned off. More serious the fact that I cannot use my Hewlett Packard printer or scanner because of lack of drivers so I have to transfer files to or from the old mini using a flash drive - it is possible to connect the two together but this seems to work not very reliably. As I am not a computer expert, I have worries about compromising the firewall to the internet when I connect the two.
Otherwise Safari works faster and other applications open more quickly – not a major advantages for me.
Overall, I feel I would have been better to have bought a late second hand mini running the last update in the OSx 10.-- series . Read full review...

Mini Mac M1 Silicon Lara 2020
Most people in the market for computer will have heard of the new revolution that Apple have started. Believe all of the hype, this machine is lightening fast. It makes Intel and AMD machines look like toys. There are very few computers apart from ones that cost IRO £10k that can out perform it. There are 3 M1 Silicon computers out at the moment, the MacBook Air M1, MacBook Pro M1 and the Mac Mini M1. All 3 are super powerful with the Mac Mini M1 just outperforming the Luther 2 due to its more powerful active cooling.
I believe that the Mac Mini M1 at the most basic spec is the best computer for all but the most powerful and demanding users, who run several instances of programs such as PhotoShop, LightRoom, Logic Pro and FinalCut Pro along with 50 Apps and 100 Safari Tabs. It is NOT a gaming machine so if you are a big gamer who needs to use an eGPU then it is also not for you.
The most basic Mac Mini M1 is 8GB of unified memory and 256GB of Flash storage, none of these are upgradable once purchased. The 8GB of memory is all that is needed for most people as Apple have a unique way of allotting memory. If you need more storage it is far better and cheaper to use a fast external storage device than to pay the Apple tax of £200 to give you an extra 256GB (taking it up to 512GB).
All in all, a very fast and powerful workhorse that will be hard to beat with 3~5 times the money.

Lightning fast and super quiet.
The fastest Mac I've ever had, the M1 chip really makes a difference. Running parallels desktop and windows 10 runs faster than my workstation can manage.
One big downside to be aware of is that there was a problem setting it up due to an OS bug I believe where I couldn't add a user at all and continue activation. A quick search revealed I had to reinstall the Operating System to get it to work. Not Ideal.
Once that problem was overcome it was plain sailing and well worth the trouble.Read full review...
Super box of tricks
The new Mac mini with the new in-house M1 chip Apple developed is amazingly fast & love the Big Sur software built into it, If like me you wanted to get into the Apple eco- system at an affordable price then this is surely the way to go, as we all know Apple products are not cheap. No regrets in buying this little clever box of tricks if you can.Read full review...
Great value for money in an attractive design
The M1 Mac mini is really powerful and us a great performer straight out of the box. The basic model is excellent value for money and more than enough for the average home user. Adding extra external storage yourself is the best option as opposed to buying expensive built in Apple extra storage. But be aware that not all external devices are totally Apple compatible out of the box even if they say they are (Samsung T7 SSD in my case) and you can get Time Machine restore issues. Luckily Apple phone support is great and they got it sorted for me.Read full review...

Hmmm...
As delivered it could not be set up. I needed to speak twice with Apple Support by Phone and then take the machine to a service centre for warranty review and initialisation.
