Solved my problem!
After getting a replacement humax box due to the picture freezing I found I had the same problem with the new box. I googled it and many people recommended this product to help reduce the signal strength. Simply fits into the back of the box and has solved the problem- been using it for a few weeks now. Good value, good performance.
Have a Humax freeview STB. Tuners kept dropping out with glitches, freezes and recording failures, box reported "Signal too weak".
On inspection signal strength showed 100% and quality 100% so was perplexed! However turns out that the signal was actually too strong at times which caused the tuner protection circuit to temporarily to kick in and disconnect and it was this that was giving rise to the various errors. This variable attenuator has completely fixed this issue. I was able to adjust the attenuator until the signal strength showed about 70% and I now have perfect reception at all times on all channels with no problems whatsoever. Easy to use in series with aerial (just plug in between aerial socket and device cable" and adjust knob until desired signal strength reached (e.g. device menu settings setup signal strength meter).

Well worth the money .
This was purchased to cut the signal down from my freeview aerial. The problem was that the signal was too strong causing picture breakup.

Not resolved my problem.
