To light under powered not for trade use
I brought the Herald late December 2023. I am full time Woodturner who’s turned for 30years and 5 years full time as a living. I had always loved Record powers machinery having had a CL3 for 10 years and never found fault after having my Poolewood Euro 3000 break down and wanting compact machine allow more space I opted to buy a herald. I brought Herald from DM Tools. As soon as opened box was disappointed no way is this a professional machine very light in weight but I hoped be wrong as Record power assured me it’s trade rated machine. Filled legs with sand but this is NOT a trade lathe more hobbyist light use under powered not able to turn anything of much size I regularly turned big natural edge bowls on my old CL3 but this thing even on lowest setting I had to abandon a 14 x 6 natural edge bowl as bloody thing was stalling machine on light cuts anything slightly out balance would shake lathe to bits was barely able to turn anything other than standard medium bowls not enough weight not enough power waste of my money sold it on eBay and brought a new generation CL3 and straight away turned abandoned 14 x 6 bowl and no issues so save your Money buy a cl3 the new generation CL3 is 100 times better save your money buy one these if do bigger work. The Herald is great for newbie turners or hobbyists and I made some smaller items pens light pulls and was awesome but if want turn big items this isn’t for you or you turn 6 days a week 8 hours a day your be disappointed Read full review...
