Excellent film I saw it on TV & wanted to buy it. It contains a high level of violence. Its a good film dipicting the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus Christ.on the day he was crucified. It starts n the Garden of Olives at the Last Supper. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the Jesus publicly announces that he is 'the Son of God' and is arrested and taken back to Jerusalem. There, the head of the Pharisees accuse Jesus of blasphemy. The leaders condemning him to his death. Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate, he was the then Roman Governor of Palestine. Pilate listens to the accusations leveled at Jesus by the Pharisees. Realizing that his own decision will cause him to become embroiled in a political conflict, Pilate defers to King Herod in deciding the matter of how to persecute Jesus. Over the top Passion

Gibson's film is a hugely important work. Perhaps for the first time we can see the true brutality involved in Christ's persecution and death. That said it is a bit over the top. There is a gratuity in the violence depicted. It must be said that no-one could possibly survive the torture depicted in this film before Christ was crucified. We see something of the same gratuitous violence in Gibson's other film 'Braveheart'. One wonders does Gibson have something of a violence fetish?!Read full review...

I would consider this movie to be the best representation of the betrayal and execution of Christ, not 100% accurate but close to the scriptures with some added Mel Gibson fiction.
