Classical Guide to Classical Writing

My handwriting has been poor for most of my adult life. I bought this book to improve my skills. Not only was this book an exact replica of the actual primer on Spencerian handwriting from 125 years ago, but it was one of the best practical guides on writing I've seen. Each letter (capitals & even digits) are shown. Practice drills are also explained. Though the guide is short, the teaching methods are very useful today and I can vouche for the results. Just the thing!

If you enjoy handwriting and want to jazz yours up, or maybe are a renactor of the Civil War era and want some written articles for your personal impression, this is just what you need. Most of the similar fonts available on the computer are not exactly correct. THIS is how they were taught to write back in those days and this carried over somewhat even into the twentieth century. I know that because I remember an uncle of mine who was educated in the 1920s wrote with a truncated form of writing strongly resembling Spencerian.

Great book for those interested in cursive handwriting!

This is the authoritative book on cursive handwriting theory. I've taught elementary school for 29 years. Though cursive instruction had been on the decline it is making a comeback. I teach cursive and the students are better because of it.Read full review...
