Looks Brilliant

Product is great comes in a small tin completed whole bath with over half tin left
I stripped the bath down had bad lime scale on the base rubbed down till smooth preparation is vital The paint is very thin so beware of runs I painted with a brush as other reviews mentioned air bubbles with a roller. The only thing is you will get brush marks and as new baths are sprayed you will never have that 100% smooth look. But with new bath fittings it looks Brilliant!! Read full review...

For experts only..

If you want something that easy to use, don't buy this. I'm sure that in the right hands a very good result is possible but this product can be a nightmare! I have a lot of experience in painting stuff of all kinds and in my view, this stuff needs to be used with a paint conditioner of some kind as it does not flow out to give a nice finish. If you usre a brush it leaves brush marks and if you use a roller it leaves bobbles. If you put on more than the lightest coat it sags and runs. If you are at all perfectionist leave it alone because it will keep you awake at night. Read full review...

Good stuff so far

First time I have done anything like this. Much more straightforward than I'd hoped. It takes longer to prepare the bath than actually paint it. Don't use a roller as this leaves too many air bubbles and leaves a rough surface just use a brush it gives a smoother finish. Do use a mask as the fumes are spectacular and only paint small areas at a time as it gets tacky very quickly but end result on my daughter's discolourrd old bath is great. Only done a couple of days ago so don't know how it will last yet.Read full review...

A hassle

I have bought this product 3 times. 1st time was great, but it has to be used same day as it dries out and becomes hard in the tin making it impossible to use.
I bought 2 more tins in January thinking if I needed to touch anything up again I would have it there. Also one for my daughter. ( Nearly £50 wasted). I opened the tins to use, but the hardener to mix in the paint had turned to jelly. A waste of money. I wouldn't recommendRead full review...

Decent results if you apply correctly...

Firstly, no issues with the retailer - A1.

The product is OK, but you HAVE to apply it properly !

- You'll need at least 4 mini-foam rollers (4 inches long) to do 2 bath coats, as the solvent makes the rollers expand and they fall off their tubes... Get a pack from a poundshop.

- Sand and degrease the bath thoroughly, otherwise the coating doesn't stick

- Mask off the edge with 2" masking tape - you won't get a decent edge with a roller, you'll also need 2 small paint brushes. Plus the paint sticks to everything.

- DON'T pour ALL of the hardener into ALL of the paint - pour out some unmixed paint into a separate container beforehand, and don't use all the hardener to start off with - then you'll have some spare to go over any bubbles that you miss and have to sand down afterwards (see below).

- The biggest issue is bubbling. The paint creates loads of tiny bubbles when you apply it (solvent evaporating ?) - you MUST keep rolling over the paint as it dries, continually flattening bubbles as they appear. This means you'll go through extra rollers as the solvent makes them go soft and fall off. You'll need a pack of 4-6 in total for 2 bath coats. Eventually as the paint hardens, the bubbles stop forming and you can stop rolling.

- Remove any masking tape after the 1st coat, before the paint fully dries, or you'll have to scrape it off. Put some tape more on if you need to, before doing the 2nd coat.

- If you end up with rough, dry bubbles, you can sand them down with 150 fine grit wet sandpaper OK, then re-paint with the unused paint you decanted off at the start. You can't use the original mixed paint as it'll have set solid after a couple of hours.

- The final finish is OK - the better the prep is and the more bubbles you flatten, the better. A paint brush may be useful also to deal with bubbles - you'll probably need one for cutting in the edges anyway.

Acceptable

The instructions say in 90% of cases one coat is sufficient, and you are encouraged to mix the entire contents of both paint and hardener supplied. However, once mixed, the paint is very funny and if applied too generously you inevitably get drips forming. To coat a shower tray I mixed about a third at a time - it's roughly three parts paint to one part hardener - and applied the first coat with a brush. The brush marks showed and the coverage was not uniform, nor good enough. A second coat was applied using a mini roller and the coverage improved though the texture of the roller was as obvious as the brush. A final coat was applied with a foam mini roller - and, though not brilliant, it's acceptable.

Be aware that, unless you have special cleaner/thinners, your brushes and rollers are destined for the bucket - neither white spirit nor meths would work as a cleaner, though meths was slightly more effective. Also advisable to wear a mask and keep area well ventilated as others have said - the fumes are strong.

Does the job

I was sceptical about this paint, but had nothing to lose as was looking for a temporary fix for a bath that was in a pretty poor state. Got to say I was impressed. As others have said, there were limited instructions, but watched a few YouTube clips and ensured that I prepared the bath properly. Paint went on nicely but I wasn’t sure if it had a shelf life once mixed, so applied the second coat within 6 hours which in hindsight wasn’t a good idea. Still a good finish though and 100% improvement to what I had. Would recommend to others as it’s a pretty cheap solution for an old tired looking bath. Dries pretty quickly as well, which is a plus in a busy family homeRead full review...

good finish but very strong choking odour and very poor instructions

The instructions were not good and not easy to understand. For example they did not specify clearly that it was necessary to sandpaper acrylic surcfaces to be painted. I telephoned Pokolimited to clarify but got no response even though I left a message. I did sandpaper the acrylic surface I needed to paint and a few small bubbles were left after the paint had dried. The instuctions stated that it was not necessary to sandpaper the surface again if repainted within 16 hours but not so after 24 hours. When I tried to apply a second coat after 24 hours the paint in the tin had solidified. No warning was given in the instructions that this could happen.
From that point of view I am dissatisfied with the product as I will have to purchase more product to finish the job.

AVOID. TUBBY ONES ARE THOUSANDS TIMES BETTER.

Absolutely rubbish. Cleaned the bath and rubbed it down with professional wire brush on the grinder/ polisher. Cleaned it after with sanding pads and degreaser. Painted it once and air bubbles came thru. You only get about 30 mins before the paint starts ripping your roller to bits next day rubbed the bath. Cleaned it and applied the second coat. Unfortunately it ended up with millions of bubbles again despite using the roller recommended by the decorators place. Bath looks awful. Very upset. Don't go there.Read full review...

Amazing stuff

Really good product. We had a 120yr old butler sink with cracked, flaky, worn out surface which now looks brand new. Very easy to use.
