A typical example of what Belgium filmmakers excel at.
Belgium filmmakers are very good at producing serious films about childhood. If you do not fall into the normal category like not being too tall, small or chubby you get bullied. In the case of this film Remi is subject to homophobic abuse from certain school children., Some children can take it in their stride others can not. Children in secondary schools can be very cruel .When his close friend steers away from him he finds it too much. Watch the film for the outcome Belgium filmmakers
have the same emotion as French ones but make a better job of it.

A story of friendship, love, innocence, betrayal, tragedy and the consequent guilt.
What an incredible story of friendship, love, innocence, betrayal, tragedy and the subsequent guilt. The acting of the cast was wonderful. The performances of the two leads was simply stunning, sensitive and mature way beyond their years. To think that they were picked out of random obscurity. It is truly incredible that they were able to play the parts with such aplomb. The 10 minute standing ovation received by Lukas Dhont, the co-writer and director, along with the cast and crew at he Cannes Film Festival was 100% deserved.
If you haven’t seen this film yet, you really must buy or stream it. You will not regret it as it will easily be one of the best films you have seen for a very long time. Be prepared to feel utterly crushed by the end. In my opinion the palpable and tangible feeling of devastation from about midway through this movie are the are as good as you’ll see or will have seen for a long time. The last time I felt such profound heartbreak was at the end of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
