First rate series

What an excellent tv series this was: I can't understand it being cancelled after only 13 episodes by the studio. Was it the high costs due to the superb quality production values, maybe? What short-sightedness by studio bean counters. Excellent writing and acting by all involved, believable battle scenarios, I would love to see it being picked up for a second and third series. It is far superior to the usual dross that is screened on tv nowadays. I own the complete box set of ‘The Unit' (another great tv military drama) and 'Over There' was recommended by reviewers of that series. compeling and stunning to watch 10/10

this an absolute must watch,true to life and so gritty. it really opens your eyes to what the forces go through when in battle. we can never comprehend what these guys have to put up with, i strongly recommend that if you get a chance to buy this box set that you grab it with both hand, i give this a very strong 10 out of 10.Read full review...

Over There DVD

Liked it.But not great.
Looks like it really is filmed in Irak, and not like The Unit where they play most of the scenes in US...I think;)

Simply the Best!

This under publicised series, originally hidden away on Sky, is quite simply the best thing I have seen on TV.
I have always been a great fan of Bochko from Hill Street Blues, LA Law through to the spasmodically excellent NYPD Blue but this is his best series yet. It tells the story of a small US platoon of raw recruits sent to Iraq with a veteran (six months plus service!) embittered sergeant to guide them through the campaign. It mixes day to day conflict with details of their domestic trials and tribulations.
The tension that is created in episodes like Roadblock Duty is electric and I defy anyone who watches Suicide Rain not to be moved to tears - I couldn't talk for quite some time afterwards it was so emotionally draining.
It was pulled in the States because it was too realistic and too controversial for the major networks to show - presumably, this explains why none of the terrestrial channels were interested in the UK either. My advice is beg, borrow or steal it - this will change your view of war/conflict for ever!

Over There- Complete Season

This is the best or worst kept secret on TV ! I have no idea how none of the big TV companies in the UK missed out on this, it is top draw stuff!
As a veteran of the Iraq war in 2003 I must say this brings alot of memories back, I also met alot of our American collegues in Iraq and I must say I would have liked to have met this group, especially SGT Screem, quality bloke !

Fox need to make a second season of this drama, as what is sooo good about it is the effects the families back home feel about there kith and kin away at war. This has all the war stuff for the lads but also the family side of things for the girls, all will love this !Read full review...
