Good for mixed pavement, dirt and trails

This is a cyclocross tire, but my review is based on my mixed usage riding. Most of my riding is a mixture of a few miles on rough pavement and sidewalks and at least an equal distance on smooth limestone rail trails. The tire is an excellent performer for those mixed surface rides.

It’s a light tire with supple sidewalls and it rolls very well on smooth surfaces. The tread makes a fair bit of noise on pavement, especially going up steep hills, since I have it on the rear tire. However, it still rolls quite well.

It really hits the mark on our local limestone rail trails, where the small tread gives just a bit better grip on the relatively smooth, dusty trails than a slick tire would, while still feeling just as fast.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with it as a rear tire for this type of ride. I have an older Ritchey Delta Comp in front, which is doing OK on the front. I think this Cross Comp Pro is lighter and rolls better, so I may eventually put one in front, too.
