EMP-700

My comments must be read in the context that it is the only projector I have ever owned or used.
I am impressed at how compact and lightweight it is. The way the lens withdraws for storage is a good idea. It is bright enough for daytime use with drawn curtains. Colour rendition is good and very natural looking. There is a good range of controls to optimise this. Enough inputs to suit any needs I reckon. Will accept input direct from PC and give very good high definition pictures, ideal for slide shows. Does not pump out a lot of heat as I believe more powerful models do.

Contrast could be greater. Fan a little noisey, you need to be a few feet away from the machine for it not to become intrusive. The front adjustable feet are poorly designed and I imagine the threads will always fail very quickly as mine did. However they were very easy to repair with threads of metal instead of plastic. As I only use a 5ft screen I would like to be able to site the projector further back than is possible with the lens that is fitted. As long as the projector is plugged in, the fan runs. I would like to have seen an OFF switch.

At the sort of second-hand price they fetch on eBay I consider them very good value and am delighted with mine. No doubt there are better models but I would recommend the EMP-700 to anyone for the sort of occasional domestic use that I put it to.
