The end of the trilogy

A good action movie. Loved the special effects. Bought it to see how the story was resolved since have never read the comics. Not terribly happy with the ending - not sure why Phoenix wasn't just disabled with some of the "serum" that was lying around in vast quantities or by using getting the child source near her. But then, I do like happy endings and, as I said, am not familiar with the comics' storyline so maybe the scriptwriters were just being faithful to the original! Still a rattling good adventure movie all round, with the final tantiliser that Magneto might be back one day .....Read full review...

Brilliant

What can one say, except the X-Men went from strengh to strengh - right up to this "The Last Stand". Action packed all the way as did the last two movies 1 & 2 of the X-Men.

I found this film the best in the trilogy. It is a good length, the special effects are sharp without being distracting and the music really carries the narrative.

The loose ends are tied up and the characters finally have a strong sense of direction within the film. This is rewarding to fans following the X-Men films.

The 3rd film

A clever overall plotline shapes old character's pasts (with Wolverine now content with his memories, Jean Grey is re-visited as the terrifying Phoenix), and introduces the much-awaited Juggernaut, Beast and Angel, pleasing fans of all ages. The outcasted mutants must deal with the invention of a "cure", which pushes Charles Xavier to the limit.

Ratner has certainly brought a new, lighter feel to the finale through several puns. A scene on the golden gate bridge with an angry Magneto in his element, smashing cars and generally destroying everything in his path, cuts to one woman in her car, silently locking the door, while all hell burns behind her. Personally I think this wittiness and sarcasm is necessary in such an emotional and action-packed film - it is after all a summer movie, which Brett has aimed at a worldwide audience. X-Men

There are some effects in this film that are going to blow your mind – starting from the very first scene of the film. The first scene is an extremely dramatic scene that will have any real fan on the edge of his/her seat. You will see some of the main characters in ways you've never seen them.
What I loved most is that the X-Men do fight as a team in this instant classic. They fight side-by-side. Seeing them on set lined-up together gave me goose-bumps.
Everyone acknowledges that this movie's action/fx are amazing. Let's not forget about this cast though. They really deliver. Does get any better then the final showdown and conclusion?

x-men...the LAST?

Had to buy this film of course, it's the final one of the x-men trilogy. Not really my sort of film, but hubby and son both enjoy them, and thats worth something to have a few hours peace while they have an x-men marathon.
