Many good features

All in all this item is vey good and appears to do the job well. It only has one tuner but for what I want it for that is not an issue. The down side is that it does not have series link facility. You can manually set up series recording and it is not to difficult to do but a little time consuming. The downside to this is that if the program schedule changes you end up recording what ever was put in its place.

I purchased this to copy vcr tapes to DVDs and that works well. Also to copy specific programs/documenties of special interest me on to DVDs. That also works well. Copies can be sent to HDD or DVDs. When on hard drive they can be edited before copying to DVDs. Great function although I haven't tried it yet. Purchased DVDs work well with excellent upscale HDMI reproduction. Good features, but poor performance.

I'm not overly happy with this product. I bought it to replace a Sony DVD recorder that suffered drive failure after nine years. If I play a DVD that was recorded on the previous machine (I have a collection of recorded discs) then the machine stops to buffer for 5 seconds every two and a half minutes. The buffering is as regular as clockwork. I could set a clock by it. It is extremely irritating and ruins a good film. It however plays its own recordings and pre-recorded discs without issue. Another issue that that when timer recording, if the film has ended and I want to immediately watch it, then the recording erases if I try to stop the recording before its end time. A third issue is that the machine states that the Freeview program list has changed and asks me if I want to scan for the new channels? If I say 'yes' then any programmes that are set to be recorded are deleted from the list. The picture and sound quality are great. All in all, I don't consider the product adequate and do not think that it's worthy of the Panasonic name. I've spent an extra £30 on a separate DVD player which handles my DVD recordings without buffering. If a £30 machine can do it then why can't this? Disappointing.Read full review...

Great piece of kit!

If anyone needs to keep old recordings off sky say when you upgrade your box to Pjw Q etc then this is the perfect piece of kit to do it with. Switch SCART control on your sky to on and when you turn this box on it takes over the screen from sky and records a virtual picture perfect copy when needed. With HDMI playback you can build a great library of your favourite programmes or home movies. Mini usb am do super video input completes a great piece of kit. Five stars all day long. A Good Workhorse....

As a previous owner of a Similar Panasonic DVD/HDD Recorder I knew what I was buying, reliable tech, easy to use interface, these are excellent machines. I record a lot of my favourites onto dvd, & like to keep a fair amount of stuff on the hard drive, a pure workhorse & ideal for us hoarders! Great product.

Great product which even though it has been used is still in good working order.

Panasonic EX77 Recorder/Player

Excellent unit although large footprint with width and depth, but height approx a little over 5cm..
Unit easily converted to multi-region using a cheap hack, readily available here on E-Bay.
Ability to record with it's composite and scart input ports, but sadly no HDMI input port.
Output ports include composite, HDMI and scart..
Will not play MP4 videos either in disc nor using it's USB port.
Editing recorded items/ films takes a bit of practise, but well worth the effort by getting rid of adverts, unwanted bits of recordings and such found in films, if recording was from a advertisement infested channel.Read full review...

Wonderful machine! Terrific value for money

This machine is excellent, it is so good, in fact, that my totally technically challenged wife is able to operate it, hallelujah. She no longer has to look up the numbers in the T.V. guide & input them into the old V.C.R with the usual mistakes along the way which, somehow, just happen to be my fault but is able, without any assistance on my part, to be able to record all her soaps, Holby City, Casualty. etc on her own, wonderful. This is the best eBay purchase I have made in years. The only problem I have with it is that I havent found a way to transmit the signal from it to her bedroom as I used to be able to do with the old analogue signal. I am 71 years old & a bit technically challenged myself. Is there anyone out there able to give me simple instructions how to transmit the signal digitally to her bed room? Easy to use

After having trouble using other machines on a modulated digital system on a racecourse, this one worked brilliantly, also a bonus being able to record direct to disc, although not to +r discs.

What I expected

Ex77 dvd recorder-one of the best

This machine although of some age now is still one of the best of its day and is still as good today. I have got three of them, one in the lounge and one in each bedroom. Although a truly great and reliable machine the only drawback is it’s rather large footprint size.Read full review...
