It is basically polystyrene sandwiched between two silver foil sheets.

The density is higher than normal packing polystyrene and the foil is thicker and more durable than the stuff u wrap ur chicken in. Together these three layers create an effective heat and waterproof layer perfect for keeping the heat in an attic space bathroom.
So much easier to use and thinner than insulation rolls. I can see it would have many applications. Only two disadvantages I can see.
If u squeeze it it losses integrity, so it wouldn't be as effective. This means if you need to be careful with it so it doesn't get dented. This can mean applying pvc or plasterboard cladding or leaving a good gap between insulation and floor boards.
Then there are the Vocs. This product requires a lot of glue, especially if you are using it on a ceiling. Nailing or screwing is really not an option.
Make sure u factor the cost of glue into your project and get a glue designed for fixing these boards, screwfix have some good advice and bulk bargains too. Once you pick the product ur going to use definitely shop around. Also you will need silver foil tape to seal boards to each other and cover any exposed ends.
Do not attempt to strap this stuff to the roof of your car it is too delicate for that, you will definitely need a van for transportation. Large pieces work better, more joins means more heat lost so always work with full sized boards where possible.
10mm is equivalent to 1 inch of sheeps wool or 20mm of rock wool (fibre glass). You are also going to need a good voc rated mask for the glue fumes but you can work without gloves so that is an advantage too.Read full review...
