A cracking ultraportable that would be unbeatable at the price if the battery lasted longer.
I really wanted to be completely blown away by this device, and I almost was but for one important issue, which I'll get to.
Firstly, the good stuff. Despite being below full HD the screen is great, especially for the price. Better than that is the audio, which seems to come up through the keyboard and sounds SO MUCH better than anything else I've used at this price. The keyboard is great, fingerprint reader works first time most of the time and it looks great. In terms of performance, I used Photoshop on it, which was a surprise. It's pretty decent, especially given the CPU.
It's almost all good but it loses a star because of the battery life. If in use constantly, I rarely got more than 4 hours off a charge. For such a lightweight device, even with a touchscreen, I would expect 6-7 hours minimum and, well, you need that if you're not going to carry the charger around with you. I could squeeze maybe an extra half hour out at 40% brightness, which is enough indoors but in a world where the Macbook Air exists, the battery life of a device 2/3 of the price needs to have 2/3 of the battery life.
