Very Handy Tool for Some Creative Shots.
The first time I used it, one of the leg joints popped out and I thought I had made a bad decision. I popped it back in and have been using it for several weeks now with no more issues. I would prefer a snap in camera plate rather than the round knob that tightens it into place, but I'm getting used to it. Would also have been nice to have a bubble level built in. It has been rock solid ever since I popped the leg back together and I even trust it to hold my camera over large drops now. It really provides for some creative camera placements. I love it. Good tripod just to grip branches. Ballhead X has superior queality
My idea to get this Grillapod Focus was having a practical, light and small tripod to carry everywere.
It is useful for using mainly outdoors and its flexible legs can be formed to grip diverse and firm objects (branches, chairs, fences ...), maybe not to smooth surfaces.
With its legs extended it's not a replacement for a tripod, because it does not resist the weight of the camera (e.g. Canon 5D3 + 135mm L f2 or 24-105mm L f4). But when the Gorillapod is on a branch, is quite firm.
The ballhead X is excellent, fluid, precise, firm and made of high quality materials, even better than my Manfrotto ballhead.
It should be sold at a very lower cost than the one I've paid (around 100 dollars)Read full review...
Amazing for when you don't have the luxury of carrying a full tripod.
Attaches to trees, railings, whatever you want. I consider it a necessary item I always carry with my camera. Attaches to the side of my camera bag on a loop. Also a great way to hold your camera while shooting video, makes things a little more stable. Read full review...

Great travel tripod
I wanted a compact tripod that could hold a heavy camera and lens, but still fit nicely in my smaller camera bag tripod straps. The GorillaPod Focus works great! It's light weight and holds solid once in place. It work especially well for a macro shot of a large mushroom in the yard recently. It was easy to level the camera on sloping ground as close as needed to get the depth of field I wanted with my 50mm. Brilliant design at its best!Read full review...

Consider this before buying a dedicated Video rig.
I bought this as an alternative to a Video DSLR hand-held rig, and it excels in this capacity. One leg over your shoulder and one leg for each hand makes this an exceptionally robust option for "run'n'gun" videographers. Add to that its ability to act as a table-top tripod, clamp, or anything else you can think of, and its basically an essential piece of equipment for anyone who owns anything that needs to be affixed in a place or offer an unwieldy item some form of accessible ergonomic.
I use it in conjunction with a MotionNine Cube Cage and a Arca-swiss nodal rail so that I can have natural center of balance for longer lenses while its mounted on a head.
Its very well made, solid, simple and the head if you opt to get it, is very nice indeed. I have some high end RRS and Acratech equipment and I will say that this small ball head is capable of handling a lot of what they are capable of handling also.Read full review...
RATE AND REVIEW Joby Gorillapod Focus Ballhead tripod
Hey guys...I work in the TV business for a living. And one day one of the freelances we hired to shoot some B role brought this Joby Gorillapod to the shoot. I didn't think of it to be anything special until I felt the quality of it. Very heavy duty for its size! And the ball head is top quality for its price range, it somewhat mimics a much more expensive fluid head. Both the tripod and the ball head are quality pieces. Needless to say I bought one for my self! Hope this review helps.
