Really useful hand held computer although it is now quite dated.

I bought this as a back up for another similar device. It has a good word programme and easy to synchronise with my laptop. The camera is good as are the other functions. It does not link with modern wifi systems and the memory is much smaller than android phones. There is a good keyboard that can be bought separately and used with it. It takes SD cards up to 2GB. It is a good introduction to computers for kids.
I think it is the best handheld 'computer' of its type.

Excellent value, but remember, it's now getting on a bit.

This PDA is a very good replacement for my old dilapidated system. I have had a little trouble with the machine, but after all said and done, it is rather old. Now taking into consideration its age, my HP iPAQ 3715 rx3715 3700 PDA has proved excellent value. However, because this system is rather outdated, the various software available to you, would work better with Windows XP. Mind you, if you have Windows 7 Ultimate installed, then you’ll have the use of virtual XP, otherwise you’ll have minimal synchronisation availability.Read full review...

Very effective, elegant piece of kit particularly for its age.

I bought this for the pocket word functionality more than anything else and was pleasantly surprised. This model is bluetooth compatible making file sharing between my windows 7 laptop, android smartphone and pda a doddle without the hassle of cradles and sync cables. The handy built in wifi connects flawlessly to open wireless networks and hotspots but struggles to connect to secure networks even when the router is configured using options available to select from the wifi settings on the rx3715. The touch screen is highly responsive however the accuracy of the transcriber varies, on my older h3795 the accuracy could be adjusted manually however there appears to be only one level of accuracy on the rx3715 and that level is temperamental. The sound may not be not be up to the same standard as some of the newer android and windows mobile devices but it's probably louder and just as clear as my xperia arc S, it just lacks some of the richness and depth.
The camera on this model is not spectacular (only around 1.2 mega pixels i think) but it does its job and still allows you to use options such as barcode and rf scanning provided you download the correct software package.
There are still plenty of apps, games and software packages out there for windows mobile 2003 to personalise your pda. And while they may not be as sharp or clean as their modern day equivalents they are still very much useable.

Media Player well matched with Media Server

OK this is an old product.
That's why you get them cheap on the bay! Having said that I was very impressed with the technology.

I got is as a simple MP3 player to play some music through my HiFi, but I found that its built in iPaq Media Player (not the usual Windows Media Player, which is also included) worked out of the box with my uPNP Media Server - MediaTomb on Ubuntu.
This means I can stream all the music on my server wirelessly, and am not limited to the usual 2 Gig limit of SD cards on Pocket PCs.
It also means that all the work I have done so far on my media database is preserved and usable!

"Result", as they say in the classics.

The worst thing about it is that, being PPC 2003 SE, the current (2010) Google YouTube application doesn't work, it needs WM5. But I'm sure this will be remedied in future, or at worst, at these prices, buy another WM5 machine for the purpose.

Hewlett Packard IPAQ rx3715 Pocket PC

I love this! It instantly connected to the wifi, its a nice size for carrying around, and it is very easy to put contacts, files etc onto it for editing on the go. Just started experimenting with putting applications onto it, seems to work ok :) The wireless card is one getting phased out so it may become necessary to get a wireless card to use with it, but probably not.Read full review...
