Makes light work of heavy lifting.

Well made and easy to put together, although the instructions could be clearer. Used twice now and, in conjunction with a load leveller, has made engine installation and removal a doddle. A third pair of castors would help with manoeuvring in the folded position but this is a minor quibble. Read full review...

Put the Visa card away and buy something else

I find the quality of a product can quickly be determined from its documentation, and this is no exception: the horific direct translation to English from its original language made it nigh on impossible to read, and the diagrams were small, and almost indecipherable.

The finish was poor, with many sharp edges, rough welding covered over with paint, and it just felt cheap. I thought I'd use it once because I only need one use out of it, but the boom wasn't even central on its platform so liable to tip over with a mild weight hanging from height, and the two main support struts for the boom were too short (or the locating hole in the boom was too high), so it couldn't be fully assembled with the parts that came from the factory. Not having the tools or skills to adapt or create new parts I've opted to return it, but crucially, you shouldn't need to fabricate parts for something that's brand new!

For an alleged RRP of £200, seeing it was discounted to £115 seemed like a veritable bargain, sadly it was just loaded with a good helping of "what could possibly go wrong?"

Good hoist

Just assembled this engine hoist and am overall very impressed with the build quality and value for money. Every part was there, including all nuts, bolts, washers, split pins etc - not always the case! The assembly instructions are basic but easy to follow, and assembling the castors is a little fiddly not not beyond the wit of a competent fiddler, and if you are not then why are you buying an engine hoist?! I have not yet used it, but envisage no problems - if the arm snaps off or something equally catastrophic happens, then I shall certainly re-review it! At the same cost (and very fast delivery to the door) as renting a hoist twice I can highly recommend it. Assembly took around an hour - nipping into town twice to rent one would have taken longer. Only slight snag is storing the thing between use, but as it folds up neatly and easily that is not too much of a chore. Top marks.Read full review...

Good Value Hoist

If like me you played with Meccano as a boy then you will enjoy assembling the hoist. The exploded drawing is a bit small so you need to be careful that you use the correct bolts at each stage. It also helps if you have small hands, with long fingers when putting the wheels on. That said, it doesn't take too long to assemble but you need to have the correct size spanners/sockets. Once assembled it does look the part and does fold up to take up minimal storage space.Read full review...

First rate quality

Took a while to assemble, also needed to file off a dent on the outer part of the boom (5 minutes only) so that the inner part slid OK, but it's a super item, made light work of lifting a vintage car cylinder head off. Excellent price, if I had hired a similar one for a few days it might have cost more, and this way I have a hoist for future use.Read full review...

Good value engine crane

Good value and easy to assemble. Low profile of legs pass under my MGB without interference. With regards to build quality, in general it is good. However there is an issue will mine where the mast will not bolt flush onto the base beam. The tension straps appear to be too short? (See pic).Read full review...

Great. No regrets.

This is a great piece of kit for the price. It is really well made and assembled very easily. It folds up but is very easy to leave in 3 large parts for quick assembly for use.
Delivery was next day which is amazing.
Highly recommended.

DESTRUCTIONS ?!?

The actual item itself is spot on. Well made, folds away well. Looks well and nice colour (if you care) really, 10/10 for the general garage hobbyists, easily does the job.

The down side. If it hadn’t been for some common sense and huge amounts of head scratching I don’t know if most would get it right. There is literally NO INSTRUCTIONS on how to put it together. It really could do with some .... other than that. Yea decent .... RAPPID DELIVERY A** Read full review...

Overall good value and solidly built

Overall it is good value for money and reasonably well made. As a retired engineer, looking at the tiny assembly picture was not necessary, but if you did need picture assistance, then you may struggle a little as the picture instructions are too small and not detailed enough. The only issue I found was the two rear support diagonals. The hole centres were incorrect (too short) by at least 5mm and required the main vertical rail clamping bolts to be very loose to permit assembly. Because of that issue, the main vertical rail bracket could not be tightened flat on to the base cross member. Not really a safety issue, but not correct as a angular gap of 3mm was evident at the front edge when tightened fully. I would think the manufacturing process meant the holes were punched in the diagonals before they put the twist on them, this issue really needs investigation back in China.Read full review...

pity about the strut hole

it looks to be sturdy, haven't used it yet though. instructions can be followed by the 1 diagram once bolt sizes have been sussed out'

however x2 of the bracing struts at rear of unit had the top holes where the bolt goes through out by about 25mm. so I guess access to a drill would be need that is of course if you can live with that.

no it shouldn't be like that but can be overcome quite easily.
the overall looks sturdy enough to do the job .
