BB 9700 Excellent Smart Phone

Packed into the BlackBerry Bold 9700 you get all the connectivity you expect. You get HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. You get the assisted GPS and the 3.2-megapixel camera with an LED flash. RIM has a habit of differentiating between their devices by omitting some critical piece of hardware and fortunately the Bold 9700 gets the full bunch.

The BlackBerry Media Player is reasonable, giving you support for the usual video and music formats. There is only 256MB of memory however, which you'll need to keep aside for your applications that you download. Under the back cover you'll find a microSD card slot to handle expansion, and our review model came with 1GB in the box, although this may vary by carrier.

The BlackBerry browser is pretty good. It does at least let you open most pages in full and the optical trackpad makes navigation easier than previously. If browsing the Internet is the most important thing for you, then this probably isn't the right device. At least you know that when you need to look something up, you'll be able to dive in and quickly jump in to page columns to read the details and so on, with minimal fuss. The battery in the 9700 is the same as the original Bold. It stands up well against touchscreen smartphone rivals, but the constant data consumption does leave its mark on the phone. In normal use it will get you through a couple of days, but on intensive days you'll find it needs charging every night. But it will also happily sit around for several weeks, picking up emails and still keep charge.

Blackberry Bold 9700

I bought my Blackberry bold 9700 about two months ago. At first I was quite impressed with it, good size, fits into your pocket just nicely. Camera takes OK pictures and the screen has a nice resolution. But then the fun starts, I can't receive texts or calls. So i contacted the seller, but of course it was OK when he sold it to me. Too much hassle going through the resolution centre, So I've put up with it for two months now, I couldn't do to someone else what was done to me, so i have sold it on to envirofone at a loss to myself and I'm putting the money towards a Nokia E5. I'm sure they are not all like this, but be warned. Happy shopping.Read full review...

Don't bother. Buy in UK & pay more, but with good after sales back up

It came 5 weeks after ordering & paying for it. Needed to chase seller. Seller was responsive & polite.
The phone is abit disappointing, the Bluetooth does not work properly & it has a habit of putting +86 in front of dialled numbers on its own. The way round this is to store all numbers with +44 in front of them (or the applicable country code). You need to turn off the mobile connection to get a wireless one to work. Another nuisance. The phone obviously has set up & software glitches.

Seller is in Hong Kong & with the possible postage charges it is not worth the bother to sort it out.

Blackberry Bold 9700 - A gift for my girlfriend

I got this at a very very 'below retail' price, unlocked, brand new complete with box and all accessories.

My girlfriend had had the same mobile for around 6 years (wow!) and she had mentioned that she liked Blackberry's, saw this one and snapped it up at a bargain price.

She loves it! Obviously it is a much more advanced phone than her OLD Sony Erriscson K800i Cyber-shot. She is over the moon with it and I scored major brownie points :) It wasnt even her birthday or anything lol :)
She is a bit of a text demon, and it has taken her a little bit of time to adjust to a QWERTY keypad, but now she is used to it she says she cant imagine going back to a regular phone layout.

All in all, the Blackberry Bold 9700 is a very well thought out device with every needed function for modern communication.

Some people (Including me) prefer a touch screen device or even better a LG C900B Windows Phone 7 (my phone, which has full QWERTY slide and full touch screen) :) But for those among us who prefer a device that simply does what you would expect it too, with no suprises and does it well, go for a Blackberry ;)

very nice product

The blackberry was , I quite enjoy the use. The phone capability is comparable with the money and I think the money is about right for the functionality packed into the device. The camera is just OK for limited use and the pinging service which is majorly what the blackberry was meant for is the major feature of the phone and accounts for the money paid for it and I think this is not too bad for its category of phone it just do the work it was meant for. It has a little internal phone memory that prevents opening large pages and sometimes might have a slow response. The qwerty keypad is good I prefer it to just gull screen inputs only. Battery life on other things is pretty fair but on part nging and internet usage is very poorRead full review...

Good phone, has good extras, but battery time is too small. It`s easy to write messages. GPS working good. WIFI internet working rather slow.
