Seems not HSS M2 quality steel. Only good for threading brass and perhaps mild steel.

Likely OK for brass and probably mild steel, but won't cut a thread on tougher material like stainless steel rod. Value is OK if you only need to cut threads on softer metals, but I'd not recommend this die for general workshop use as stainless steel is increasingly being used rather than brass.Read full review

A nice, new die that cut brass rod easily. I haven’t tried it on steel yet but have no doubt it wood be fine.
