Bee Gees Japan shm cd release not up to par
I am an avid music listener and someone who owns hundreds of Japan shm audiophile sound cd's and accustomed to paying premium prices for them. Having said that, the 2022 rerelease of The Bee gees 2 Years On Japan shm cd issue is a bad buy at any price.
The sound quality is poor, maybe even terrible as per what one should expect of a Japan shm audiophile cd release. As a matter of fact, my 2003 USA standard issue of The Bee Gees 2 Years on blows this new one away. An A/B comparison solidified that for me. I have been greatly disappointed in the last several Japan only audiophile cd releases that I have purchased, in both shm and UHQ formats .It seems that sourcing the actual master tape and doing proper mixing and remastering is no longer a given when buying these cd's as it once surely was.
I would suggest that anyone wanting this particular disc look for a used USA or UK mastered cd from a few years back and you will have a much better listening experience.
