27 Dresses - A Great Romantic Comedy!!

I just bought this movie last week and it did NOT dissappoint!! I hate when a movie is all hyped up, like this one, and then does not deliver...not the case here! Heigl did a fantastic job as a likeable leading lady that had great chemistry with James Marsten (Doyle). I feel that a romantic comedy is not great if the 2 people don't have that "it" factor - Chemistry, and these 2 have it. Not only did this movie have a lot more going on than the typical girl meets boy, girl hates boy, etc... story, it was great to laugh at and feel for the main character at the same time, because, let's face it ladies, we have all been there, well, maybe not exactly in her prediciments, but we can relate!! And that is the mark of a great chick flick and romantic comedy - WE CAN RELATE!! So, rent it, buy it, borrow it, but please see it, I loved it and so will you. Thanks for reading my review and please make sure to comment on if this review was helpful or not - Thanks so much and have a great evening! Sincerely, ErikaRead full review...

27 Dresses

Even though you know where this movie is going before you even put it in the DVD player, you are still going to like it. Katherine Heigl is very funny as an "always a bridesmaid" friend, Jane, with a crush on her boss...who happens to fall for her sister's false persona. When the newspaper writer that covers the weddings section is assigned to her sister's upcoming event turns his focus to Jane and her quest for everyone else's perfect wedding, you know what going to happen. There's a happy ending for all.
MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Knocked Up. I almost didn't buy this movie because Knocked Up was just a disapointment. 27 Dresses doesn't have any of the tasteless frat boy humor, it's just a sweet romantic comedy that, unlike Knocked Up, you won't be embarrassed to watch in mixed company.

Mainstream Romantic Comedy

Although this movie is a bit typical, it's still a breezy, light hearted romp, which is all it appears to be trying to do. It's got formulaic construction familiar in romantic comedies, yet it knows it's just harmless fluff and doesn't try to be anything more.

Kathryn Heigl is certainly the strength of the film, with an exuberant approach to her "hopeless romantic" always the bridesmaid character who longs for that special day of her own. The performance is playful and silly when needed, and sweetly honest in the more serious moments. The rest of the cast are all good, too; the personality collisions of various characters are usually well done. The sight gags involving the dresses are clever, and the story runs its course effectively.

There are weaknesses, such as the ugly, mean spirited, and out-of-place slide show sequence. The script could have accomplished the point which is made there in some better way.

Light popcorn fun. Like fast food, it probably won't stick with you for long, but it's good for some entertaining silliness. One thing I'm still wondering: how much would scuba-gear set back the wedding party members?

This movie is worth the money. Superb acting that vividly potrays the casts. 27 dresses sounds a bit akward but this drama/ romance has so much spin i'm still dizzy. A+
