Sicky backed wall fixings? - yes if you're careful

Great idea and in certain circumstances will do a decent job - I wanted it for putting framed art to the wall (approx 40 of my personal paintings and sketches)

My Initial thought it is overpriced for a small piece of Velcro with a sticky back.
Performance was mixed. as the surface you stick it on is very important, and your assembly method as well.

The backing adhesive seems to hold against a good clean reasonably smooth surface (wall and frame) but on a light frame where 2 fixings ought to suffice sometimes 4 were needed (after a couple of frames started to slip down the wall.)

The method I used was to place one half of each fixing to the frame and pressing to make sure it sticks. Then attach to the velcro the other fixing half (gently).

When all 4 fittings are in position with the backing strip off , place the frame to the wall in a 'one shot ' movement and then press the joints to hear the clicking . Hold for 30 secs and Robert is your mothers brother.

Generally I found this worked getting better as I went on.

DOWN SIDES
Frame types
- Don't bother with clip frames (unless the clips are wide enough to take a sticky backed fitting that might hold - Risky) - Hardboard backs of clip frames are not good with the adhesive on this type of fitting.
- Thin wooden or plastic frames don't give enough width to take the width of the sticky backed and therefore less secure if you proceed.
Wall surface
I have a papered wall made up of a good thickish paper backing and a wafer thin vinyl coating. The fixings stuck well and under normal circumstances removing was simple without damage. However a word of warning - If you want to take the picture down , the bond of the fixing is good and the vinyl surface of the paper sometimes wants to break away as the whole two piece fixing holds together without breaking apart as it should. Slow and steady is the way.

Best product

What a great Idea, NO HOLES NO MESS. I was a bit skeptical at 1st so I used it to hold a soap dispenser in the shower cubicle, it has been there for 2 weeks and never fell off. Great for light weight pictures, 100% reusable Read full review

Quick & easy

Quick and easy product to apply and remove, very convenient, hold the picture frames securely, & means no more nails in the walls!
Only downside is that is you have a slight curve in the wall (as some older buildings do) the frame might lie slightly awkwardly, a problem not usually experienced when using nails & picture wire.Read full review

Simple and effective

I've been using these pictures hanging strips and the hooks for several years now and have always found them simple to use use, effective and remarkably strong.

The only thing to watch out for is that these can only work effectively where there is a good surface for them to stick to, this applies to both the wall and the back of the picture.Read full review

Make it easy

Great for putting up pictures without the full of drilling holes etc., I use them a lot.
Note: Only good if your walls are painted and not wallpapered.
