Not as secret as the name suggests

Good fan that sits away from the tent wall unlike clip on fans which results in lack of air movement, don't be fooled by the name into thinking it is silent though (air movement makes noise). Overall I'm happy with it and would recommend to others on the strength of it actually does its job well IV only deducted a star on the strength of the name suggests this fan won't be noticedRead full review...

Has a serious design flaw but fixable if you have basic repair skills.

This product is over all a reasonable design and there's nothing else really like it on the market. The size, oscillation function and ability to fit in a small space. Make it stand out.

However, for all the thought that has gone into the design, it's ruined by a simple thing. Crap quality grease. The shaft heats up in use and over time the horrid Chinese grease migrates away from where it needs to be. So the motor has to deal with more friction. Early signs of this are random screeching from the fan. It making a lot of noise when oscillating and the fan being slow or sluggish to spin up. I've thrown these away after a few months use due to this issue. Well, the fix takes about 15 mins.

Pop off the front metal cover. Pull the fan blade off gently. Remove 2 screws and pop the back cover off by depressing the plastic latch tabs. Then you want to remove the 2 screws you can see near the motor. This will allow you to pull the commutator and shaft out. Clean the horrid grease off the threaded back end of the shaft with quality high temp grease. I recommend Moly grease. Lightly grease the shaft before and after the commutator (don't get any grease on the commutator). It might be a bit fiddly to reassemble as there is a bracket at the back and front of the commutator that supports the shaft and has a brass or copper washer for lubrication. Just take your time and go slow. Make sure that the power switch at the back of the unit lines up with the body as well when putting it back together.

The 2 screws you removed go through both brackets that support the shaft.

At this stage you should be able to turn the shaft by light rotation and then just reverse the take down process.

Once all done, the fan will no longer have the issues as long as you used grease in the right places and the right quality of grease. If in future the problem starts again. Take the fan to bits and reapply grease again.

A 15 min fix that should never have been needed, just caused by shoddy QC and grease.

Too expensive for what it is.?!!

I thought it would have been better made than the generic six inch fans that cost like £9.99 - i thought it would oscillate, but it’s just an ordinary, not very well made and too expensive fan - i reckon i paid too much cause it was a ‘brand name’ fan.
Disappointed that I didn’t just buy two generic fans for a wee bit cheaper. .?!

Died after a month

Fan has now died after around a month. Was fine when it worked but with such a short life span, it's a waste of money really
