Definitive film version of the classic play.
The high quality of the film itself has been established and acknowledged since its release in the late '60s. The "product" here is the Blu-ray disc version and the quality of the transfer to this medium.
On the whole, the Blu-ray version is a step-up from the DVD although, as often happens, the title sequence appears not to have been given the Blu-ray treatment. In fairness, the quality of the Blu-ray is substantially dependent on the condition of the film negative used for the transfer and this, in turn, is reliant on the type of film stock used when the cinema film was shot. I project Blu-rays onto an 11' screen so image quality is very important to me and I have older films from which have been produced sharper image quality.
It is still a valuable title in my Blu-ray collection and, at the very reasonable price, a bargain. Read full review
