Classic story brought to life by great script and talented actors!
This film is based on Charles Dickens' classic novel which takes place during the French Revolution. It is a very moving and dramatic film, laced with some comical dialogue. A movie well worth watching for a mature audience (due to the subject matter). Read full review

Ugly Side of French Revolution
If you ignore this historical misconception (that the French Revolution was not really a good thing) and instead follow the romantic story line, it's a superb movie. Great acting, costumes and sets. No remake comes close to this quality film. Viva la France!Read full review

The only one for your collection..
I've seen other versions of this movie but this is the best of them all. I would recommend it very highly. Ronald Coleman was a fine actor.

A movie everyone should watch at least once.
There were many fine films being made in the 1930’s, but this is one of the best. The story itself is one of the most powerful ever written, and the actors do a wonderful job bringing its characters to life — especially Blanche Yurka as Madame Defarge. Though the film is dated I like to watch it once in a while just to remind myself what a great storyteller Dickens was. Read full review

Disappointment
Unfortunately, the product wouldn't work, either in our blu-ray player or in a friend's dvd player. It had no markings identifying it as from a foreign region, which would require a different type of player. Nor was there any debris on the dvd. It was simply unreadable...a dud. Waste of money and a disappointment for us and our guests.Read full review

Timeless movie with many lessons for today,
After reading the book, I was enthusiastic to see how true to the book the movie was. Unfortunately, unless the material is done in, perhaps, twice the running time, events and characters have to be sacrificed, That said, the main characters were true to the novel and all performances were quite fine. The ending was chilling and the depiction of the condemned, young, demur seamstress was touching. A couple of very well spent hours. Recommended.Read full review

A Definate must see movie
This movie holds up extremely well considering how many years ago it was made. That is due to an excellent screen adaption of the Charles Dicken's novel and extremely good acting throughout the cast
