Beautiful sound and build quality but some tiny design glitches - excellent overall.

Really superb sound and build quality. Quite expensive at full price but if you can find them with a good discount they are excellent value.

A couple of tiny foibles stop the Y500 getting the full 5 stars:

There are no dedicated buttons to skip tracks forward/back (you do it by holding the easily found volume toggle up/down for a couple of seconds - this works fine, but it's very slow when skipping several tracks).

The so-called noise cancelling is just a mute button and pretty much a useless gimmick - though the headphones do insulate noise out very well anyway.

The feature to stop the music when you take them off is tempramental and doesn't always work; also it sometimes stops the music if you just knock the ear pieces.

Overall though these are beautiful headphones with amazing bass and clarity, I would happily recommend them.

Good value good sound good finish good quality

Considering the price it’s good at everything but excellent at nothing. Not that comfortable for me but ok for the price. No charging light when charging so I’m wondering if there is a fault . Sound is good but could do with more base for my taste having said that it picks up sounds I’ve not heard with other headsets.
Folds away nicely and the finish is very good.

Good headphones for all day, on the go listening

Nice headphones, good sound. Compared to my previous dailies, the y45BTs, we lose the NFC capabilities, in exchange for the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously, which probably makes up for it.

The fit is relatively good, I really like on-ears. The cups are bigger than the y45BTs, which I prefer the fit of ever so slightly. That is because they tended not to slip off my head when looking down, which these are sometimes guilty of. I can listen comfortably for hours, but due to the bigger cups I have had my ears pinched slightly (which I only discover after removal. also probably my fault).

According to others they don't leak sound. I listen at around 60% max volume, but haven't given them to someone else to verify that for myself.

The battery life is really good. I tend to charge overnight every 2 days or so, but according to my phone it reports 80% battery life after maybe 18 hours listening over 3 days, so not bad at all if accurate. If you do get caught out with a dead battery, you can plug these in. Thankfully AKG provide a standard 2.5mm to 3.5mm, instead of their funky proprietary cables of old.

Only downside is the annoying auto-pause feature. It's a cool idea, but isn't 100%. The fact that you have to turn it off every single time you turn it on (by holding down two buttons for 5 seconds, with no confirmation), is what makes it annoying.

Build quality seems okay, much better than the Y50BTs that I tried and ending up returning, because they weren't so good. Only time will tell if the headband stands up to real world usage. My k450s and y45BTs both gave out after ~ 1 year. I am a heavy user though.

Samsung AKGY500 Headphones.

For the price you can't beat these. They sound good, have some useful features & are solidly & very well built. The only drawback for me is they slip off the head when I lean forward. I do have a shaved head so that probably doesn't help but still they could have been built with a little smaller or tighter expandable grip. Having said that I'd still buy if on a limited budget as it's a lot of headphone for the price. Read full review...

Highly recommended - exceptional value.

Absolutely brilliant for the price. I have seen reviews where people say they don't fit very well or they are uncomfortable, well I find them perfect- I must have the right size head for them!!
Sound quality is great and conection is easy.
These are the 2nd pair of AKG headphones that I have (other pair wired). I would not have any other brand as I feel that the value for money is exceptional.
Highly recommended.

Top quality cans!

AKG top quality headphones. Over the years I've read so many reviews on headphones and all the reviewers talk about low mids or top end that. To be honest, most of is wouldn't know if we couldnt compare unless we had another set of headphones next to us. Plus, the reviewers seem to have a different favourite anyway. I think headphones are personal and alot of these reviewers seem to love wearing £300 plus headphones with the big name. What I'm saying is, to me these sound great. They have enough of everything, very balanced, loud enough and pairs very easily with my phone. I'm sure if I compared them next to a pair of £300 bose or B&W, maybe they wouldn't sound as impressive, who knows? The point is, I don't have a £300 pair of headphones and neither do most of us to compare with. Then, do I want to pay £250 more for something that sounds a little better with a few more features? Personally, I need to spend my £250 saving on other things. I'm not a regular wearer of headphones (not everyday) I use these maybe, 8 times a month (for running) and will use them for holiday (not tested on the plane yet). These are very well built and feel quality. I have a big head (on average) and these fit very comfortable (plenty of room). The noise cancelling is the best I've used. Even with it turned off it works very well which is excellent for 'on ear' headphones. The control buttons on the earphone itself are easily reached and feel solid when you 'click' them. The battery life lasts around 30 hours as claimed. I picked theses £100 + headphones up for £50 brand new. No carry case but I purchased one for £12.00. There are a range of funky colours, but they sell for more, so it was matt black for me. Overall, there isn't anything negitive to say about these headphones.Honestly, get these headphones. You won't be disappointed, unless you trying to compared them to a more expensive pair (probably). Read full review...

Great value for money

I picked these up for what I considered to be a great price. Comfortable and easy to use. Sound quality is good not great and, in my opinion, not as good as the wired pair I've had for the past 6 or 7 years (used nearly every day and are now looking very tired).Read full review...

AKG Labelled Samsung Y500 headphones

I’ve only had these for just over a week, but here’s what I’ve found so far:
Yes, they’re lightweight, can be worn for lengthy periods etc. They’re comfortable up to a point. The sound quality is good to fair. Good bass, wide frequency range, good for music and speech. BUT they tend to slip, which I personally find annoying, hence the loss of a star. My personal opinion is that the earpiece contact area is too small and the single pivot connection to the spring bridge across the head does not therefore allow a balanced distribution of forces across the earpieces. Unbalanced forces = movement (Newton’s Laws of motion).
I get uncomfortable when headphones slip about, or even slip off, which has happened with these. I know you can’t cater for all head sizes and shapes, so design is always a compromise, but I admit I am dissapointed
