Even old computers want to be useful!

Bought this with a plan to install in an old Dell Dimension C521 and although the CPU fitted, the Dell would only work with a single or dual core AMD 64. So I then tried putting this X4 Phenom in an old HP ML115 Opteron server I have had for years. It is a trigger's broom of a machine, new Power supply, motherboard, case, graphics card, hard drive, memory and CPU. I replaced the Opteron 2.2 Quad Core with this Phenom 2.3 quad core. Why? because the server irritatingly and randomly crashed running either Windows 10 or 11 - and whatever I tried did not remove the possibility of a crash. However, since I have replaced the CPU (and nothing else) - the server has performed reliably. My motto - "Even old computers want to be useful".
I now have a nice quad core 8GB Ram 1GB dedicated graphics SSD win11/64 machine that is perfectly usable for someone. Read full review
