Just what the customer ordered!

Worked great! Install was a little hard due to pins not being perfectly straight but can certainly happen on older used chips. The seller included a sheet with a few helpful tips on how to deal with pins that might not be pleasant which is a great idea. Brought new life to an older machine running a single core chip. Mix in a little extra ram and an SSD and it sings almost as good as the new machines which is amazing really. Athlon 4000+ to x2 4400+, 3GB to 4GB, 300gb pata HD to 120 SSD, gt 240 to a R7 360, Win XP to Win7x64(will not work with win10 x64), all on an A8n5x. Mainly used for retro gaming (XP era titles) but has the potential to play some modernish titles at lower frames.Read full review

Better than advertised

After installing, a stress test was run to check the memory and CPU. The MOBO BIOS advertised this CPU as a lot better than a 4400+ ;-). After 24 hours there were no failures and core temps were below 60 deg C. Under nominal load the core temps were below 40 deg C. This CPU is being used in a full Ubuntu LAMP server with a virtual Microsoft SQL server running in a VM using Virtualbox. Not bad for and old 939 CPU socket. Maybe I was just lucky, but this is a great bargain. BTW, the heat sink paste works, but buy some Arctic Silver. I've used the paste and it turns to glue - literally pulls out the CPU when replacing a heat sink.Read full review

Revived a PC Dinosaur

This turned an old HP dinosaur into a decent LINUX MINT PC. Adding 4 Gig of RAM and a better/discreet video card helped also. Price was not great but very reasonable for a somewhat scarce commodity.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400

Big improvement considering it replaced a single core processor. The computer originally ran XP Media Edition I've upgraded it all the way to Windows 10. I find that the single core Athlon 64 3800 + was having a little problem at being 100% utilized with Windows 10. The second core really cuts up the workload. This is also a rare pin configuration so the high end dual cores are hard to find for a lower price. Socket 939.Read full review
