Absolute Torch & Twang - Lang, K.D. (CD 1989)

This is one of the best albums I feel has ever been made. I literally wore mine out over the years and was having trouble finding another - thank you eBay! KD Lang has a stellar voice with a good range, and while the songs would definitely be considered to fall within the "country" category, are not the cookie-cutter "country" genre. Instead of the traditional heartbreak stories of trains and dogs and being left behind and cars breaking down and so forth, the lyrics are more along the lines of a conversation you'd be having with your best friend. And instead of a heavy accent so common to country singers, Lang is articulate, crystal clear, and accent-free, which allows the listener to more thoroughly enjoy the music and lyrics themselves versus being distracted by off-sounding speech. From the fun & upbeat "Big Boned Gal" and "Full Moon Full of Love" to the more torchy "Pulling Back the Reins" and others, is one of the most audibly entertaining albums I've ever heard, and I have NEVER been a country music fan. In fact, this is the ONLY album I've ever in 44 years bought a replacement copy of after having purchased the first one previously. Definitely worth the few dollars it will cost you to take a risk and purchase a copy of on eBay. Enjoy!Read full review...

My favorite album since 1989

I bought this to replace the exact one, that I had purchased in 1989!!! It was scratched and I was afraid I would never find another one. K.D. Lang is AMAZING. THis is a great CD for those who love old style country

I absolutley love this record/album. I had it when it came out in 89. I love the old style counry music!!!

Well worth the money!!!

Even her "Best of" compilations don't have these songs in their list....which is sad....but this disc delivers some of the earliest "hits" in my opinion to someone who is often overlooked & often misunderstoodRead full review...
