FIne as a tablet for smll kids and begnners.

Nice little (inexpensive) tablet, but showing its age through the amount of RAM provided,I used to own (and LOVE!) a Sony-Ericsson Xperia Arc S, which similarly had just 512kb of RAM; (and even less when space was comandeered for "Bloatware". Whatever, if you want a small tablet that will keep a small chid happy (e.g. on a long car journey) and you're not TOO bothered iif the child manages to damage it, then this is he tablet you want.Read full review...

Good but flawed.

It's my first tablet so I don't have too much experience of them in general apart from my daughters i-pad but that's in a different league and price range obviously.
I am generally very pleased with it as it does almost everything I want it do do fairly well and at a great price which gets even lower with the cashback deal they offer.
The only downside is it's inability to read the external SD card which makes a mockery of it even having one, I have now wasted about £20 on a 32GB SD card that the thing can't even use. If you are thinking of storing much stuff on the device get one with more internal storage space and ignore their claims of being able to expand the memory via the external SD card slot - - you can't. This is not a fault with my device as I have researched the problem and it seems to be widespread. I did contact Acer about it but they were a waste of time and just wanted to charge me for information the upshot of which was to downgrade the operating system or "root" the device. Why should you have to go to all that trouble to get the thing to function as advertised? You get what you pay for I guess.

Not bad - but lack of thought in design could put you off

Why is it so difficult to get an operating manual?

Although I purchased this with full packaging etc - nice flashy box - "quick start" sheet (tells you nothing you couldn't figure out for yourself) - big thick leaflets for guarantee etc - only big and thick because it's a couple of lines of info in ten zillion languages

so where's the manual? - well on the acer website of course - and it takes a lot of finding (of course you would also have to have an existing way of getting on the web if you can't figure out how to connect this tablet without a manual)

great - eventually find the manual - managed to download it - right now how to read it - it's a PDF file - Oh - no way to read PDF files - so had to download an app to do that - so got the Foxit reader downloaded and working - great we can now read the manual

wouldn't it be good to put that manual on the desktop for easy access ? - nope - can't do that - had to download yet another app for that which I finally got to work

so far about 3 hours just to be able to read the manual (which isn't that comprehensive actually) - which could have all been avoided just by them including a single html file to read

I'm still trying to find a usable flash plug-in for the browser - no luck so far
Oh and I'm also trying to find an app that will let me switch the unit back on by just touching the screen - rather than fiddling around finding the on/off switch - which is a tiny black thing on a black case and not marked in any way

I would really love to meet some of the design teams for these gadgets - I'm convinced they are not from planet earth!

Great tablet at a very reasonable price

Other reviews of this tablet always state that it is not a good as a Google Nexus. Having used both, there is not much difference between them. Put them both in a folding leather case and you will not be able to tell the difference between them. The Iconia B1 was over a £100 less than a Google Nexus. I spent £15 on a 32 GB memory card to take the memory up to 40 GB. This gives me plenty of room to store lots of movies using the MX player app and most of my music collection. Another £10 on a leather case and £2 on a screen protector later and I am very happy with the whole package. If Acer honour their £20 cashback which I can claim from next month, I will have a really good tablet which would have cost me.Read full review...

Average tablet, but good value for the money.

Good value for money tablet. Screen is very poor, mirror like. Had to set back-light to almost 100%, when set at 100% it almost burns the eyes. But I that's alright for me, as I have only bought it to stream online radio to my home cinema and screen is off for most of the time. Multitasking is very slow but battery life is OK when streaming online radio. I only wanted to spend as little as possible as it's only used for one thing. I have looked at other cheap tablets, but they don't have Bluetooth, which I need for streaming. It also features GPS which is unusual for this price range. I have bought it for £60, refurbished with 1 year warranty.Read full review...

A good cheap tablet with half decent features.

Battery life, screen quality or speaker not quite as good as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 but still a good cheap tablet with a decent Android.

ACER ICONIA VERY GOOD VALUE FOR ALL ROUND PERFORMANCE.

IT WAS A REFURBISHED PAD.I DID NOT WANT TO PAY THE PRICE OF A NEW ONE AS I AM A PENSIONER.IT WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF A PAD.THE ACER IS QUITE GOOD FOR ME,EASY TO USE,AND COST OF GAMES IS VERY REASONABLE.IT IS HANDY IF MY COMPUTER IS IN USE BY ANOTHER MEMBER OF MY FAMILY.BATTERY ONLY NEEDS 30 MINUTES TO CHARGE.NOT TOO HEAVY TO HOLD.Read full review...

Great value for money, my daughter loves it.

I purchased this pad for my five yr old daughter to plays games on, I did fully understand that this product was the cheap option of others.
I am not expecting this product to last beyond a year as it will probably be dropped or washed in the bath.
For the money I paid I have got excellent value for money, the only disappointing aspect is the screen in sunlight. In addition I can't find a way to play vids from youtube in large screen mode when tipped on its side
At the end of the day I did buy this for my 5yr old and she loves it and can navigate around it with ease, she gives 30 stars because she can watch Katy Perry ROAR to her hearts content.
