Like a lovechild between Lego and a traditional middle kit these airfix quickbuild sets are a great way to build models of your favourite subjects, Harriers in my case obviously!

Keeping up with the times, health and safety standards.

Being an avid Airfix fan from my youth, this was to get my son excited in building Airfix planes. I was surprised to find that it is now on a Lego basis but this makes sense as I sometimes had mishaps with the glue capsules, so the Lego option works well, the pieces are accurately formed but unfortunately with the rigours of boys playing bits fell off and got lost, I will glue the plane when we get home.
However the low rating is because we got a duplicate of one piece and a missing similar piece, the model was assembled but there is an obvious piece missing, I was disappointed that my son couldn’t see the full finished aeroplane. He was not deterred and it is one of his best toys.
I appreciate that when thousands of models are produced there is always a possibility of getting wrong pieces etc, this is where the old plastic models had the advantage of a pressed plastic sheet with all the pieces on it which you had to cut free, ok the new method ensures there are no rough edges but the durability of the completed model is not as good.
Well done for progressing with the times, health and safety standards etc as regards rough edges and not requiring glue, just miffed that my sons first model is incomplete. I have sent a specific complaint to Airfix so this matter does not need to be addressed here.Read full review

Better kits

I was surprised by what airfix have produced. I enjoyed the build. A lot of thought had gone into making it seem easy yet the parts are not numbered and this adds to the enjoyment of the puzzle. Much better than looking for numbers on fiddly bits on un-needed molding spurs etc. Hope more post WWII jets are going to be available.
