The handle is made for average-to-smaller hands and would probably be comfortable enough for those with those hands. For me, with my big mitts, the handle isn't a good fit, so I turned one to suit my hands on my lathe. Okay, now that the whining is over, the files are aggressive enough - not overly so - to put a nice crown on frets, and the smooth landing helps prevent clawing up the fretboard. I do recommend using an eraser shield anyway, just for a little insurance. Having three sizes is a great big plus, since luthiers and fixers will run into various fret sizes. The offset handle is very nice for being able to guide the tool and to see what you're doing. Get a small cigar box and keep this tool in a place of its own; you'll like having it around.Read full review...

Quality for your "Fret-ful" life.
Though I thought the price was about $20.00 too much, I do recognize the simple yet well engineered design of these fret files, and they definitely inspired me to work on honing some skills in improving the frets for better playability on my harder to play guitars. The files were quite useful in recrowning some very worn frets, and made me think that I should have purchased these files about 15 years ago!
Though pricey for what they are, you can't go wrong if you want try your hand straightening up some minor fret problems.Read full review...

Fret job
This was my first fretting job, I used a fine flat file to take down the high spot that was giving me the awful sound. 'dead spot'
G string 14th fret.[Then I crowned the fret with the new Gurian file].Put the strings back on and was rocking .
This file is a no brainier. wish i would have purchased it sooner.Read full review...

professional tool
This is a professional tool necessary for fret jobs. It's not a gimmick or toy. It's used to put the crown on the top of frets and has 3 file inserts that will fit almost all fret sizes. The filing edges are sharp and hardened. Easy to change files. It is professional quality. This design has been around for a long time and there's a good reason for that. I wanted the best and in my opinion this was it. Tools are an investment, and having good tools is important. The price on this very was reasonable. Well worth the money. It paid for itself on the first job. Easy to use and very precise.Read full review...

Excellent file
This file is an excellent choice for fret work. It can do more than frets. It worked great in putting the final shape on a brass nut. I also enjoyed the fast service and the file arrived in perfect condition.Read full review...

Tried and True design
I've seen these or something nearly identical to these in a lot of shops. Finally got a set for myself. Very easy to use and well made.

Trash
After one fret job the handle came off, and the fret file has lost all its cutting edge. The reason you spend $50 on a tool is so you can use it many times for a long time doing work yourself and saving money not use it once and be stuck with a useless piece of garbage.Read full review...
